My original goal was the keep a factory head unit and upgrade all the speakers and add a sub. I added the 10" Kicker Solobaric with an Alpine amp. Sounded good so I wanted to upgrade the other speakers. The problem I ran into was since I have the upgraded Alpine system, the factory amp wouldn't work with the factory speakers. The speakers are 3 ohm. So I became frustrated and said f*&^k it and went and bought a new Alpine Ixa-w407 (http://www.alpine-usa.com/product/view/ixa-w407/) unit and the Alpine Power Pack (http://www.alpine-usa.com/product/view/ktp-445/). The reason I chose the power pack is because I don't have to run wires to a new amp. It simply plugs into the back of the unit and sits in the dash. It puts out 45x4 RMS at 4 ohms. So it is perfect for the 6.5 Type S (http://www.alpine-usa.com/product/view/sps-600c/) component set I have and the 6.5 Type S 9http://www.alpine-usa.com/product/view/sps-600)coaxials I am putting behind the seat. Hopefully I will get a chance this weekend to get it all put in!!! I will post pictures as I go!
What ever happened to a dash kit and a wire harness for $30 to install a stereo? Look at all the wires I have to contend with!!! :wow: I miss the simpler days....
Hopefully I will get a chance to put everything in tomorrow! I will post picks after I am done...I am also thinking about doing a how to on installing the radio from scratch...Since I have the upgraded Alpine factory stereo, I need to bypass the whole system and run all new wires for my radio. Would anyone would be interested in it if I did it?
