Is it definitely the trans shifting? I thought that it was my trans causing my thud after i came to a stop but after asking on here it turned out to be the gas sloshing in the tank and making the thud.
How do you know that what you're feeling is the trans shifting? I suspect you may be getting the "sloshing gas tank" that Muggus mentioned. Try shifting into Neutral as you're coasting down, and see if you get the same thing. Or, have your dealer tech ride with you with a scan tool, displaying Current Gear and Target Gear. Then you can see what's really happening with the trans. Target Gear will change (from 3 to 1, for example) at the START of a shift; Current Gear will change at the END of the shift.
If you have the larger fuel tank, it is the fuel sloshing forward, I went through the same thing as did countless other guys here, it usually happens between 1/2 and 3/4 tank, it used to drive me nuts, now, I don't even notice it anymore
