Since were on the anti-burnout crap... since I'm an old grumpy bastard too...lol I mind as well share my little burnout from a few years ago in my Lightning....And I will do a damn burnout anytime I get a chance! WOOHOOO!!!! Carry on gents! http://www.streetfire.net/video/ford-svt-lightning-badass-burnout_88162.htm
WOW, I guess I got told huh? I loved the video clip of the RT burnout where he flips the truck....the most noteable part of the video was the extremely wise and relevant comment of the guy taking the video.....Oh $hit...that's not F'n good! I'd say I have to agree with the gentleman. Not good?? How about stupid, idiotic, dumb, and a few other adjectives thrown in for good measure. Hey, you want to burn up tires and stress out your tranny or subject yourself to the same sort of unanticipated and potentially tragic results?? Have at it. Hell, even "crappy Goodyears" cost money.
Grumpy old fart leaves you with "nice burnout...what's it going to cost you"? Hope dad didn't buy you the truck.
The best part is how he gets out and says "what happened??? did I pop a tire???" hahaha.
As long as you're safe and not endangering others, who cares, do what you want! Besides, we need to weed out the stupid ones, we have a surplus currently
I won't hardly turn over my new tires because I spent so much on them, but when they get bald I'll let them turn freely, that's what usually happens is I stop caring because they are so old and worn anyway, and I want new ones...
^ It can be considered reckless driving. It becomes the officer's judgement. Whether it'll stick I guess might depend on how much you want to fight. My brother got a ticket when he accelerated somewhat quickly(it was a stock 4 cylinder s10, and wasn't even floored). The cop gave him a ticket because he thought he was racing the other s10 next to us, but he wasn't. I assume this is basically along the same lines of "over accelerating".

Depends where you are located...In Ontario there is a law for Stunt driving and you lose your licence and vehicle for seven days.....That's the good part....Now for the bad....Some people that have been convicted now pay anywhere up to $10,000 for insurance a year and that's if your lucky to get someone to insure you.....
Like you said it all depends on the officer.....Good luck boys....Play hard and most importantly stay safe.......
Gonna be 52 and can't wait for a tuner to be available so I can bustem loose half throttle. My Goat would get sideways at 40mph easing into it in second gear, sweet!
do you guys really buy a truck to burn rubber? i must be showing my 54 years of age. speed when i need it, reliability and comfort on long trips is all i need.
Droppin rubber on the pavement in NY is considered "unsafe start" and can get ticketed. I think a good tune would open up the truck. Stock specs prob limit trucks performance. I do notice a power increase after 3k rpm's.....
I purchased a 2012 Ram 1500 4X4 a (3:55) few weeks ago and love it! Runs like a "bat out of hell" It will chirp, squeal, smoke the tires relatively easy!
With a 3000 stall torque converter I can easily light em up at will with half throttle,
but I save that for the track on the weekends on dedicated Drag Radials.
My street tires cost twice as much and I use AWD to keep them from spinning when I launch it.
I'd rather have the guy beside me see my tail lights, not my tire smoke
:smileup:Agree! I have an old moapr and had a single leg diff in it with my tweaked 318....was able to spin the one tire when I wanted.....well, added a trutrac diff and now it hooks up so well, its very hard to break loose.....
Breaking loose your tires is not the only sign of power! Although admittedly it is fun to do it once in a while....... LOL
How many miles do you have? When I first got mine i thought it was a joke also. Ive only got 3500 miles on mine now but it runs a lot better than when i first got it. I think u should b paitient, and put some miles on it and u will start to see what im talkin about. Just needs some runnin in...
Truckin' magazine just tested the Ram, F-150, Chev and the Titan (no Tundra available) and the Ram was the fastest of the three (yes the F-150 was an ecoboost) over the Furd by 3/10ths @ 14.8 for the 1/4 mile.
Power to the pavement.
Now I wish someone would change the title of this thread... I hate offensive knee jerk responses to problems without research... My .02
I'll chirp with the stock 20's rotate the 22's (smaller diameter with tire overall) before the TCS kicks on. It definitely takes a while to break in the system to get that power to the ground better. Can't wait until the Torque Converter shows up :-D
I love this truck, I didn't buy my truck to do burnouts, but with a 5.7L Hemi, I expect to be able to do them at my discretion, and boy can I! All stock everything, crew cab, 3:55 gears, 20's, trac off, and it lights up whenever i ask it to.
And while that is fun, I really love this truck in the mid range. Push you back in the seat acceleration on a 6k lb truck. Did i say already, I love this truck!
I have a 2013 Sport hemi 3.92 and it doesn't peel with traction control on or off just launches. With the traction control off on a ice over parking lot I can't do two full donuts without the traction control system kicking in even tho its off.
This has been beat to death, but I can tell ya that I have the Express 2012 QC 4x4 and I could smoke the tires after my break in pretty well. I have the new Toyos 34" on now and it still rocks the tires by accident when hurrying in traffic
Gear swaps and custom tunes are the only way to get what you're looking for......I've said it before....if you want that kind of performance for 30K.....get a R/T Challanger. JMO.
Just wondering if the HEMI owners in the cooler areas are more pleased with the performance of their trucks. Hot humid weather sucks the power out of allot of these newer vehicles. A cool dry day (we have about 2 per year) here in south Texas is like a fresh dyno tune!
