Question Headlight switch or park light short?

My 1999 Ram 1500 has a couple electrical issues. The most peculiar is when I turn on the headlights (rotational, not pull switch) the park light fuse blows. I put a ten amp breaker in, so of course then it just blinks the park and dash lights.

The strange part though is that when I use the thumbwheel rheostat to turn on the cargo/interior light everything works as it should.
I removed the cargo/interior bulbs so I wouldn't be driving around in the dark with lighting other than headlights and everything else works fine.

Anytime I move the rheostat from the "cargo on" klik position things start to blink again.

Switch is $110 at the nearest NAPA which is about 70 miles away. Figured I should ask this question before I made the trip and spent the cash.
Should I be looking for a switch or another short?
Regards

Anytime you blow a fuse, you have a short. I suspect your switch has an internal break with contacts off alignment. The problem with installing a circuit breaker is that the problem never gets fixed which can lead to more problems, i.e fire, meltdown, etc. Use a circuit breaker for trouble shooting and once you are satisfied, reinstall the fuse. A fuse is an absolute yes or no. A circuit breaker is a "maybe".

If you don't have the means or know how to "ring out" the switch with a multimeter, you could get another switch from a wrecking yard if you have to shotgun the troubleshooting. It'll save you some bank.
