Anyone tried the Lifetime LED headlight bulbs?

Been doing some research on the Lifetime LED headlight bulbs...they seem to have great output, less power draw than HIDs and the instant on is what I really like. Have any of you tried these or know anyone who has them?? Looking at putting them in my 2013 with the projectors and fogs.

I've used similar in other vehicles and been impressed, but I don't think they'd fit in the projector housing. There is very little spare roomin the back, and you'd have to leave the cover plate off, most likely leading to fogging/condensation issues.

Stumbled across something interesting in regards to LED Headlight conversions, sorry I don't have the domain address, but if you type "VLED" in google it will take you to their site, new LED bulbs that don't require a fan and they are rated at 3000 lumen per light, HHHMMMMMM. I am still waiting for the breakthrough in LED headlights and these are getting close. The newest lights are VX3' s. $200 bucks a pair.

Well, all I can say is check their website, I'm certainly not hook , line and sinker either but who's to say, I'm sure there is development going on in this direction. All I'm saying is there will probably be LED headlights out soon that will outperform incandescent headlights. I'm waiting for something full- proof in LED's, love the output with HID's but they just pose too many potential problems with the electronics in these trucks. I bought a set of LED headlights awhile back when they first came out and other than the fact they just didn't throw the light very far, they plugged in and worked perfectly the first time without a canbus connector or wire harness or added resistors, no warm-up for the bulbs, that's what I'm after. In the meantime I'll leave my stock headlights as is and continue down the LED lightbar road, I just picked up another Rigid Industries lightbar, a 10 inch E-series spot to add to my existing 30 inch bar, turns night into day.

Been hesitant on doing an led headlight conversion due to the fan+ heatsink nd fitting without the dust cap. Decided to leave the hid headlights in and tried a set of cree 3600lumen/bulb fog light bulbs and they work amazing and just as bright if not brighter than the 35w hid headlights.

Yes completely plug and play, the ones im running now are these:

You can not tell the difference between these and HID bulbs. They are the 9005 base so one tab you have to clip in half but other than that these things are amazing. Plus I like the fact I can change the "shades" that come with it and get different color temp within a few min quick change. Little pricey but I made an offer to the seller at $102us and I love these things. Perfect beam pattern to. I may of got lucky but they came in 1week. sorry for the delayed response.

May try these at some point to, 4500lumen a bulb, great price so many options but after using LED bulbs now I don't think I would go back to HID

:smileup:Very cool, I think they have to be at a higher lumen to be effective, could you take a night shot , love to see the output, awesome find!

Will get a good night shot tonight, while there out ill get a few shots with the different shades showing the color temp. These in the truck now are 3600lm per led bulb (8*5w cree chips ran at 40w actual input) and I will say they are replacing the 35w hid kit I had In the fogs and they are the same brightness if not brighter than the hid bulbs. wouldn't go back to the HID kit especially with these being plug and play with no ballasts or nothing. Also trying to get a deal at the moment of a set of COB LED bulbs that have driver ballasts and run at 4500lm per bulb. Will keep updated on those. trying for brightest output with an led bulb not trying to get a ticket :p

That's awesome man! Not to squash the HID route, but this is starting to play out like I had hoped for with LED's, simplicity and longevity, right on!

I have looked into almost every possible wway to switch over the low beams from HID's to led but the led headlight bulb are without a doubt bright enough they just don't have the dust cap retrofit set up to be compatible with any vehicle that uses these. Plus mot of the high quality led headlight bulbs have a fan and heatsink which is hard to work around in the headlight assembly. Hopefully soon they have these set up to work.

Did you find a way to make these work with the dust caps on the headlights? There is no doubt these will be plenty bright enough however I have not been able to find a way to install these without leaving the dust caps off to allow the fan to circulate air. You will love the output of these.

I'm going to modify the dust cap by cutting out the centre and building them out with thin gauge wire like a dome and cover and it with good old duct tape! The last set of LED's had enough room, I still had to cut out the centre for the power lead, they had an igniter box though. I think they'll work fine.

Yup, sure could, I might be waiting a couple of weeks for them to ship though. Sure looking forward to trying these.

This is what I've been working on lately, I added a Rigid 10 inch E-series spot, I fabbed up the brackets from some stout stainless.

The light source or LED chips are where the filament would normally be on a standard bulb so they don't scatter light like an HID bulb which are design specific for projectors. LED's are specific for reflector bowls.

No I don't, I have the quad lights, H11's for lows and 9005's for highs. I really hope these pan out, seeing the pic that RamRT posted, I can't imagine they would be any different for the H11's. If they do, I'll order the 9006 lights for the fogs. Not sure about the highbeams yet with the DRL's.

I would say take your headlight assembly inside your house and dry it out with a blow dryer and modify your dust cap to fit the application, it can made to be air tight. I'll build mine out to fit and make them work. I also went into the seller's store site, they sell LED' s that are rated as high as 4500 lumen per light as RamRT stated in one of his posts, something is gonna work here!

I would like to see some pics of these installed, pics of the modified dust caps, and clearance behind the light housings. These seem like a great Mod.

I wonder if they would also have a brighter LED tail/ brake light ? I tinted my lens and would love a super bright LED brake light.

Agreed, I'll wait & see how they fit first. I already notched my covers once, I'd rather not take the dremel out yet again. Maybe once the weather warms up again I may get ambitious enough to pull the headlights to see about stuffing one of the LED's in there but from memory it was pretty tight & I can't see the extended length of the current generation LED's fitting in there....

I got in a package today with a 9006 led set of 4500lumen/bulb fogs for the girlfriends car. Should look pretty good, I was surprised with the output of mine at 3600lm so these should really be bright. I tried adding an h11 set to my headlights but found there to b way to much modifying that would nee to be done but I am sure it can be done. If it were easier I wouldn't think twice about putting these in my headlights. From me nothing but great results from these led bulbs.
