Finally dumped my girl Ford for a new girl named Ram!
I finally made the move to Dodge and I love the power of the Hemi and handling of this truck has over the previous under powered 2010 Ford F150 I had. I got a good deal over the weekend on my trade in/rebates and couldn't resist, I hate to see my baby go but I think it was time for a change. IMO Ford had better interior and that sync system was BA but I'm getting use to the UConnect Navi setup....so definitly not a big deal.
Here is my new baby (Needs to be washed and waxed): Current mods done since the weekend with more to come
Undercover SE Tonneau Cover
Bushwacker OE FenderFlares
18" magnaflow exhaust
4" Black Powder coated nerf bars- those are coming off for the power boards (The Platinum F150 spoiled me with the ones on their)
Remin carbon fiber dash kit
The new:
Here's my old baby and specs: 23" Saleen wheels w/ Toyo Proxies ST II 305 40 23/ Borla Pro XS SI/DO/Retrax bedcover/ 2" drop shackles w/ Belltech street performance shocks and lowering struts
Yea I may be biased, but in my opinion Dodge was the better way to go. I had a 2000 F150 4x4 and I definitely love my Dodge way more than I ever did that truck. Even though it met an early demise lol
congrats on the trade. I trade my 06 F150 last February for a 2011 Lone Star trim and I was surprised with the Dodge interior quality and HEMI power.
Nice truck. Thanks fore the pics!!
The only thing I have bad to say about the Ford was it was underpowered and I didn't want to mod a engine that was pretty much out of date(5.4L). I got so many compliments in that thing it was hard to see it go. Get this, when I went to the dodge dealership to trade it in there was a guy willing to buy it from me but I didn't want to go through the hassle of a loan that might not go through and besides I wanted to leave that day with the Ram. I'm just glad I got such a great deal on it, msrp of 41.2k and out the door at 34k (thats including tt&l).
Very nice truck, lol just traded in my 2010 platinum for my 11 Sport too. I wish we could split screen so nav map an audio show up like on the ford. I'm also planning on getting power steps installed.
Those power steps got me spoiled...IMO the nerf bars are useless compared to them because you still have to step up 5 more inches compared to the power steps. It's just more of a natural movement in and out of the truck to me with them.
I traded my 2010 F-150 Lariat 4x4 for a Ram 2500 5.7 Laramie Longhorn Mega Cab. They are supposed to have it in and ready for me to pick it up Monday night.
My biggest complaint on the Ford was the power....or lack of it. Also it had the small 5.5 bed and I hated it. Everything you put in it was 6" to long to shut the tailgate.
I am really looking forwad to getting the Ram. I already have several accessories 9" dvd headrest, allgig, truxedo duece tonneau & tailgate seal, front & rear husky mud gaurds, and K & N filter. All just waiting for a pickup to put them on.
i think the new ford engines have a bit more pep than the old 5.4. i had an 04 that treated me okay. i can't compare because my ram is a 2500, but i did drive a 1500 back in 06 with the hemi and i wasn't impressed. my 2500 with the hemi now is so much better. so far so good with my rig, def glad i bought it.
The new engines do have more pep but the only one I would have gotten was the 6.2L big block. Talk about taking a hit on your mpg, it just wasn't an option for me. In your case, the 06' hemi is rated 45hp less than the 09-11 hemi's now so thats probably way you weren't that impressed. I had an 2010 F150 5.4L rated at 310hp, so from going to that to the 390hp hemi your gonna feel a difference. Also, as of right now going through 1 tank of gas, my MPG compared to the Ford is dead even and I know it will most likely just get better once I get some miles on her.
I'm glad to be in the Ram Family now and as a forum site in whole you guys are more classy than those other guys in the F150 forums (A lot of downing each other going on over there).
Mod's coming in next week: Amp research power step, mopar cold air intake, stubby antenna, and more carbon fiber to cover that ugly silver around the radio bezel...I will get some better pics for you guys when that happens.
Welcome to the Forum. There are so many good people on here that are willing to help you out!
I do have to say, I love your Ford, that was a really sharp pickup! My buddy has one not as decked out as yours was but also with the 5.4L. I let him drive mine but claims the 5.4L has more power b/c of the trans. We will have to see....
Very sharp looking new Dodge as well!!! Looked at another black but was tired of trying to keep her clean. Still think there is nothing better than Black and Chrome combo though! I think you will be very happy with it. Don't have a single complaint with mine!
Yeah your buddy is lying to himself but whatever makes him sleep better at night...I had mine for a little over a year and got into my truck now and all i can say is wow. For a stock truck it's pretty damn good but imagine if we had the six speed or even better that eight speed.
I wanted to get a supercharger for it last week when I bought it but I decided to use some of this warranty before dropping one in. That way if I have any power train issues in the next year or two they can be addressed under warranty.
Love the new truck choice! I have been stuck between getting a 2011 Ford F150 FX4 or a 2011 Ram 1500 Sport, gotta say I have been in love with the Ram Sports for ten years now! Always went to look at em, then ended up getting an SUV, then a sports car, now ready to make to big move! Hope it's a good one, as I love that black ram sport!!!
