I'm needing to buy a set of nerf bars for my truck (little brother has a heck of a time climbing up in it! :naughty but I'm not sure which way to go.
I want a good set of stainless bars for an extended cab 2001 Ram 1500. I'm hoping some people have some experience with these, I'd rather pay a little more now and now have to worry about them rusting on me in a years time.
Is there a good manufacturer? or should I go through Dodge? (I do have a buddy who works at a local Dodge dealership)
Someone here just bought a good set of SS ones from ebay . And at a decent price . Definitely check that out . My steel Westins rotted away in about 2 years . Boy was I dissappointed . My next set will be SS and probably from ebay .

I looked up n-fab's website and I've got to admit, I really like their look.
I didn't see a stainless steel/mirror finish option for a 2001 cab-length extended cab set (only saw black available) so I e-mailed them and asked if a stainless steel/mirror finish was an option.
$500 doesn't seem too bad though.. The lifetime product and 5 year finish warranty says they really back-up their product.
SS = Stainless Steel. Regular steel bars rust pretty fast once winter road salt finds a rock chip, or bare spots on the inside of the tubes where the paint or powder coat didn't cover.
The thin material of a tube bar doesn't handle being a rock rail either...:i_rolleyes::doh:
They are to the frame. I have some L-channel I lost the pics of the install to show the brackets. Not bad for buying them for $40, pretty much brand new too.
