Good point, I'm sure they'll all show up as well. I think there's a couple more guys that aren't on the list that would go from HTC also. We had fun and it was good to meet you guys. I'll run my truck some more once I do a little more to it, although I probably would have only been running about 1/2 to 1 second slower than most of the guys out there.
Ya there were a couple others that weren't on the forum that showed up like Ethan in the black RCSB, and the other shorter young guy drinking the PBR has a truck as well but it's in the shop.
Are you going to go to more of their meets? I figure now that I know they meet up and I'm only 20 minutes away I'll probably go as much as I can, especially if they might shut the track down.
Ya why are they supposedly doing that at the end of the year? And I'll be down there more often now that I know how long it takes me to get down there and how much gas I burn up. I need to hunt down some smaller sticky tires though
You should definitely get a set(and let me borrow them ).
I heard the guy leases the property and is retiring, so they aren't sure what's going to happen with it. I can't imagine someone won't take it over, WTF would they do with it? Someone will take over I'd almost bet on it.
Seriously though I don't want to put the money in for slicks but I'd love to run my truck at least once to with them to see what it'd do with better gearing.
slicks aren't all that bad, that guy with the brownish QC picked his up for about $400. Just hunt down some cheap 17's on eBay or CL. You could probably get away with $800 for everything
Yeah I know, I was talking to Josh about buying his for $200(two wheels and two ~half used drag radials), which is a good deal, but for something I'll use about 4 times just not worth the money. I'm going to invest in a linex and some other stuff that I actually need a lot more. I'm sure at some point I'll be able to borrow a set from someone to make a pass. It'd be different if I had a 13 second truck lol. I think I want to turbo my truck down the road, maybe in a few years, so if I do that I'd probably get a set, but while I'm running high 15's/low 16's I'm not going to invest in it. I've got a lot of other hobbies and my truck isn't a drag car lol.
lol that's fair enough, and I think if you talked to Al he'd let you make a pass on his Hoosier Tires. I'd go with a turbo set up if I was you, those HTC guys have quite a bit of experience with going that route so I'm sure they could help you out if you needed help locally.
Yeah I think I could safely/reliably achieve 450-500 hp with ~6-8psi. Shouldn't hurt mpg and would be a lot of fun. I could probably do it for around $2-3k. I decided that I'll probably keep the 3.55 rear end and save some money for a turbo, it'll be a way better investment. I know Stu said his truck was turbo'd as well.
Yep looking forward to it. might actually have my new y pipe and muffler welded in by then too! I guess I'll have to make at least one pass. Should be at least mid-high 15's with the exhaust and converter. Oh so slow lol.
That's what I was thinking, that's a VERY tall sticky wide tire. I doubt he'll have any traction problems but I thought that would be a bit to far in the direction of needing more traction lol
