Help please! 04' Dodge 2500 SLT Diesel w/factory tow package.
First, with the brake controller totally removed and utilizing the factory trailer brake adapter plug in under the dash and connecting the white wire/red stripe (12v hot all the time) directly to the blue outgoing trailer brake wire, then measuring the voltage at the 7 pin factory receptacle at the bumper, there is a slight decrease in voltage as compared to the trailer charging wire alone; perhaps about .3 volts. But, while using even a small light bulb as a load checking device at the bumper connector, the bulb will not light up at the trailer receptacle indicating an open circuit between the brake controller plug under the dash and the bumper 7-pin trailer receptacle. There is not enough current to even tell the brake controller there is a trailer back there and will not operate any sort of braking action.
Has anyone seen or heard of this? Do I have a bad connection in the harness or left front fender well plug?
This sounds like a bad connection in the Dodge harness/connector plugs or a broken wire in the loom to me, how about to you guys???? Thanks so much
