Default Real world questions about Vararam Intake

Ok Gentlemen,

Santa just dropped off my 2012 Dodge Express and it is freakin awesome, but, like any good gear head... I want more! I am hopping that a few of you guys could post some specific videos regarding the new Vararam Intakes. The videos that i am looking for are:

1) Dyno results. both stock and after Vararam install

2) I have seen the Vararam install video, looks nice. However, i would like to see someone give that thing a little shake so that you can attest to it not being flimsy (this was an issue with the 3 gen Vararam intakes).

3) Interior noise levels as you are cruising at speeds 55 through 70. Then put the hammer down and lets hear what that bad boy sounds like!

I know that this is very specific and I hope that you guys can help me out. I really want this product but I will not waste my money on it.

Thanks in advance you guys rock!

Joe

You aren't going to get any dyno tests or videos...it costs money!
I will try to shake it for you, but it does move. When the hood is closed, it is locked in place...so shaking it with the hood open is pointless. It isn't much louder than the stock airbox, because it is sealed to the hood with the only opening pulling from the grille. The Volant box I ran made more noise than the Vararam.
Hope this helps!

Call Vararam and ask for Steve or Patrick. I'm pretty sure they did some dyno testing.....

Talked to Steve from Vararam before ordering mine. He claimed 30hp gain, of which I was immediately skeptical, but figured if it made half that I would still be happy. Maybe he meant flywheel hp, I did not ask for clarification.
My butt-o-meter is still skeptical. Sounds nice though. Aggressive but not too loud. I like it enough to keep it.

The 30HP gain is based upon improvements over base ET and TrapSpeed over the 1/4. We guarantee 3-4 tenths reduction in ET and 3-4mph increase over a STOCK setup. Rule of thumb says to lose a tenth or gain 1MPH takes 10HP hence the 30HP!!!!
Thanks
Steve

dyno testing this doesn't really indicate real world performance, especially with the vararam, it thrives the faster you go and you can't recreate that effect on the dyno... If they can do this version for a 3rd gen I would do this in a heartbeat... having been beaten face to face by a vararam equipped, similarly modded truck has me believe in it because I haven't lost to any Rams (except modded diesels and modded srt10's) period at the track except for this one vararam equipped Ram..and it doesn't matter which track..he takes me every time...

I'm looking into a dyno day in the near future with the airbox and the vararam, and a track day in february to see if I can get three tenths and 3 mph off of my best 14.57 @ 97.82

fred, I don't see how dyno testing the vararam would be a problem. Just do it it a wind tunnel.
