I think it sounds OK, but have caved in to forum pressure.
I am getting 18" Magnaflow installed Friday.
It has taken a few months of reading here and listening to poor quality sound clips to finally decide.
So you have no spine and just caved like a lemming, eh?

Well, so did I. I don't think you'll be disappointed. I used an 18" Borla, but it's almost identical to the Mag. Even on a regular cab, short bed Express, the 18" size seems to be a good choice. It has a great sound on acceleration and a nice idle sound, but the great thing is that it just about goes to no extra sound whatsoever at cruising speeds compared to the OEM muffler. I was a little concerned about potential drone and such, especially on the highway. Ain't none.

Thank's for the positive reinforcement. I was also worried that I might be too old for such loud muffler shenanigans.
But I see that you are even older than me!!
Actually, my 74 yr old dad has a nice 51 Chev pickup with a 350 and LOUD duals.

Thanks JMR, I am also looking to possibly upgrade my stock 55398327AF Express muffler for something slightly louder..

Look into the HOOKER MaxFlow muffler, I have one and it's slightly louder then stock but has a much deeper sound.

Modern oem catalytic converters are "high flow", or at least as high flow as aftermarket "high flow" ones. A good rule of thumb is if they are round cats they are good, if they are oval cats they are a little more restrictive.

i'm not trying to stir this pot any more than it already is but i've never decided to change the muffler on my truck because every account i've read on here since 09 of someone adding a more free flowing muffler resulted in lower fuel mileage. there was even 1 person who put his old muffler back on and his mileage came back.

^I never paid much attention but I thought most people claimed a gain. There really should be no noticeable change though.

Im quite sure that any increase in fuel consumption is the result of a heavier foot, now that it sounds so much better.
