Angry Bad Cupping on Tire

Does anybody else have cupping issues with their 20" tires. I rotatae them and the vehicle only has 28,000 miles. Could the recall for the tie rod ends be a culprit?

too much burning rubber! I would show the dealership the cupping tire and ask them to check the alignment, if the alignment is off it could be the tie rod end or just be out of alignment. Good luck!

I don't suppose they would do that under warranty or out of the kindness of their hearts.

i'm guessing if it's still under warranty then u should have it fixed under warranty. they may not put tires on it but if the alignment is out that should be covered. I would show them the cupped tire and assure them u have rotated the tires.

If when they were rotated, they did it from Right front to right rear, It was done wrong

My dealer did that, the Owners Manual reads that it is to done in the X pattern

UNLESS the tires have the ARROW pointing the direction of travel

My right side tires kept cupping, I have since changed wheels & tires, waiting to see if there is any sign of unusual wear

I believe alignment warranty is 12/12000 unless work on front end parts then maybe.

This is correct. Alignemnt is a 12/12000 mile claim.. I have cupping issues on my 20's as well..

Started @ about 28k.. The noise is staring to drive me nuts..I have 20's on the last 4 Dodges and this is the first time for cupping..

Just a word of cauation, tell the dealer you have problems other than allignment. That is not a waranty issue. Tell them the symptom not to do an allignment. As far as the cupping had that same issue on my 2008 Ram with two sets of Goodyears, when I switched to Michelin that issue went away.

Cupping has a lot to do with a lot of factors... Shocks, TREs, ball joints, alignment, toe, you name it. In the end a LOT of new vehicles cup the outsides of the front tires. My take is that they put a little positive camber on the wheels and they look like this:\ / That combined with too much toe and the outer edges occilate.

My guess is they setup the truck that way anticipating some loading which will square up the patch to the road.

I'd show the dealer the wear and see what adjustments they can make to neutral the camber.

I have the same issue with my 20's. I've had the dealer realign the truck around 8k mi. They were no help other than that. I'm fairly sure it's due to the crappiness of the stock goodyears. There are many, many others experiencing this. Per the suggestion of another member, I raised the air pressure to 45 psi and it seems to have helped somewhat. Once they wear out, I'll swap them out for some nittos or coopers.
