motor oil has its own detergent to keep the oil passages clean
The only place that needs cleaning every once in a while, is the where the gasoline travels
I put on a Catch Can to keep motor oil out of the gasoline to keep those passages as clean as possible. The smog system puts motor oil into the combustion chambers & gunks up that area with burnt carbon, which is nothing but charred motor oil
I have never put Sea Foam in the crankcase either, for the same reason you give. While Sea Foam say's it is safe to do, and gives instructions on how to, I have read too many did not end well experiences, so another reason I have never added to the crankcase.
