Default Changing from base 1 Disc Radio to RHR NAV

I just bought a RHR for my Longhorn that has the base CD player.

I think I got a pretty decent price, and its the right one because it came out of a 2011 Ram.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/160711320792...#ht_500wt_1413

I imagine the change over from RES to RHR has been done a million times but I do have some questions.

1. Is there an easy to follow guide on swapping?
2. Will I be able to keep my existing Sirrius free radio sub?
3. Do I have to bring it back to the dealer to put it in their database?
4. Do I need to buy any add ons? I heard this radio should not need the GPS antenea?
5. Any advice from people who have done this before?

So far I have found this which helps out a bit

The install instructions are pretty good, they are at http://www.mopar-accessories.com/en-...=3362&pc=68940
I had the dealer install mine and the Sirius still worked for me, but I hear you can call Sirius and give them the codes off the radio and they can swap the trial, but it depends on who you talk to and what kind of mood they are in that day.
You will need the microphone mirror and the harness if you don't already have that, but the antenna is the same as you already have if you have the sirius. It is a dual antenna. If you have the handsfree already then you have to disconnect the uconnect module under the dash and bypass it. There are instructions for the swap here http://www.mopar-accessories.com/en-...ubGroupId=4013
Here is my post on my adventure http://www.ramforumz.com/showthread.php?t=98909 you can do the install in 20 minutes and it is easy to do.
Hope all the links made it through.

Please keep me posted on how this goes for you. I am planning on doing the identical same thing with my 2012 R/T. I got mine with the RES (130) radio, Sirius, uConnect, and steering wheel controls. I wanted the back up camera and from everyone's recommendation, I'll go with the RHR & back-up camera set-up. Keep me posted on how it goes for you including what all you had to do to get everything working again.

Thanks,
Sean

I have performed the swap on my 2009.. I wrote it up and it is here..

http://www.ramforumz.com/showthread.php?t=102254

Let me know if you have any questions.. Oh, if you have a 2011 or 2012, I don't think you will need to replace the Sirius antenna like I did.

I also did the RES to 730N RHR swap in my 2010. It's pretty straightforward and didn't require any dealer involvement. It's almost scary how plug-and-play this is and how it integrates.

Only additional item I needed was a new antenna. Pre 2011 trucks used 3 antenna inputs (am/fm, Sirius, nav). The 2011's and on (RHR) use only 2 antenna inputs (am/fm & combo Sirius/nav). Not sure if all 2011 & up trucks come with the combo antenna already installed with the RES (non nav). Pretty easy swap if needed.

Good Luck! john
