Default DIY Modded TB...

I know there's been plenty of threads around here about modding the TB with photo's of the finished product, but I thought that I would share my work with everyone here. Especially for those who are thinking about doing this mod and are not to adept at wrenching on their trucks like me.

Anyways, long story short, got a spare TB off EBay for about $40 shipped. Picked up a Dremel 4000 for about $90. Just started hecking away at it last night. Got thru more than half of the walls before my first cutting disc had to be replaced. Then shortly after putting the second disc on, the screw holding the disc on broke. So, modding is temporarily on hold until next Wednesday (my Saturday) when I can go buy a new adapter and some more cutting discs.

All in all, this project is a lot smoother and more simple than I had thought at first. Really glad I decided to tackle this project, and can;t wait till it's done and installed.

If you have the grinding stone you should be able to at least get the one side ported out and taper the center while you're waiting.

I believe I got the grinding stone with the standard accessory package that came with the kit. If it's the cone shaped, blueish-green looking one, that's what I actually started off with for a minute before switching to the cutting wheel. I was planning on saving the grinding for after I get all of the "bulk" pieces off before sanding down and polishing.

Well, here's the latest on this project. Went down to the store, picked up a couple parts I needed to finish the job. Plus had to go buy a couple O2 sensors and installed those. Anyways, I got all of the cutting done and all that's left is grinding all the cut areas down to a nice flat surface, and then sanding it smooth and finally polishing this bad boy up.

TB is the Throttle Body, cutting down the lips improves air flow and gives better response.

Besides better airflow and response, I do believe I've read on the forums here that it will also improve MPG's and give more HP and torque.

Yeah, basically that's all you gotta do. After cutting the wings of, you're gonna want to grind it down from all the excess, then sand smooth and polish. I personally am still at the grinding phase. Been busy with getting ready to move into a new house. Great fun.
