Default Mildewy Vent smell

When it rains and I have the defrost or heater on...I get an odd smell from the vents. Kinda wet mildewy type smell. Anybody have that issue or know what it's from? I have a 2010 with 29500 on it.

that is the AC, I have noticed the same in my car when I run the defrost. My advice is to use the defrost every day when you drive the truck on high heat /low fan, and that will help get that mildewy smell away. Because technically the AC mixes with the heat when you use defrost that smells tends to produce some moisture in the ducting.

I note this more in my car as I park it for the winter, so I just run it for about 20 mins with the defrost on full hilt during the winter every month or so. Pretty much takes care of h mildew smell.

they make a spray that you can put into the vent system to get rid of that odor. had this issue on a different vehicle yrs ago and the spray helped.

Hello I also have been having this problem, however its a little different for me. I only get it when it rains. When i open the door to my truck it smells right away. I turn on the ac then it goes away. it only happens when it rains and it last for two days.

On a side suggestion......piss anyone off lately while driving? Maybe someone poured something in your cowl on the outside too. I have heard of that happening. Would definetly have a smell that happened.

Mine does the same - smells like my Grandmother's basement. It does go away within minutes of having the fan on though.
