Nerf bars are a good choice. They were my first mod and I'm glad I did it. Not real expensive either.

I kind of agree with Stump3r however I went with Exhaust because my truck came with a sprayed liner already, yet I'd still go with Exhaust first.

Why, because I like a good beefy throttle sound
(I'm still rocking OEM though, lol).
Any one know if there are any SVT type kits out there so the exhaust is coming out the sides, assuming you have true dual exhaust?

I picked exhaust. You get instant gratification with the sound, and mild to minimum performance/mileage gains. Assuming you do a whole exhaust and not just a muffler. Like it was previously stated, mods come in pairs if you want the best performance or looks. Lift/level makes it look weird without tires to match. Exhaust doesn't do much, unless you open up the intake. Neither do much unless you reprogram the stock computer to run with the increased air intake/exhaust. Modding sucks. Good luck with the choices, though.

My Refund will be better than expected. I have decided, so far, to install westin nerf bars. I'm also leaning towards exhaust but thought I could save a little money by just doing a muffler swap. I like the sound of Magnaflow's #12589 I saw a video on youtube. My brother just bought a Flowmaster 50 series exhaust kit for his Ram and we are going to install it tomorrow. After I hear it I may decide to go that way. Christopher, you said "Mild" performance/mpg gains Unless I just change the muffler. Does the original pipe really make that big of a difference? CAI is up there in my options as well. Which do you guys think is best?

One mod would be the programmer. Most performance gain for the buck. Better than CAI and or exhaust. But also necessary for when you do other mods.

Totally loaded question. Really depends on what order of importance you place on those items. If you care more about looks than obviously an exhaust is not the way to go. Where as if you are looking for performance, one of the best bangs for your buck are the CAI and exhaust. I agree a tuner is also a great investment but to get maximum benefit from a tuner you need to have CAI and exhaust.

I chose exhaust, simply because I love the sound of a V-8, and what better way to bring out that sound than an exhaust, imo.

Talking Mods about done

Ok, I ve decided to spread the wealth around. Instead of CAI I went with drop in K&N filter. I installed Westin Nerf Bars, My Magnaflow SI/DO exhaust and new Y-pipe came in today, installing on Monday. Will get tint on front door windows to match back doors. Then see whats left over and search for a Programmer, if I have enough left.

I forgot to mention, I had to replace the rotors and bads on the front, to far gone to be turned. Scary that I was driving with those brakes, might post pic if I can figure it out.
