Default Ticking Noise on new 5.7v8

Hey guys I recently got a 2014 Ram Big Horn. Really pleased with it, but sometimes when I crank it theres is a small ticking sound. When it does this there isnt any noticeable change other than the sound. I can even stop the motor then restart it and the sound is gone. Any insight on this?

no .... but when I start mine ( about 6000 miles on the clock) it has it as well and other have said they have it as well as do I

so it would seem it is the nature of the beast and it in all likelihood the injection system

Better known as the HEMI tick. Been there for years.

Oh yes. The ole Hemi tick. It is a characteristic with the Hemi. Some are light, some are heavier, and some are none. Some folks have claimed it quiets down with changing oil.

I first heard the Hemi tick on my 2003 while at the drive thru with the window open and thought the worse. I did quiet the tick my switching to synthetic oil and when I sold the truck in 2010 it was still the same no worse. On my 2011 and now 2012 I just find it to be a normal part of the Hemi.

My 04 has been doing it since about 30k miles and I'm just over 160k now. It can be kind of annoying at times but I've learned to live with it. Sometimes changing oil helps a bit and sometimes it makes it worse. It does it constantly at idle for me.
