Default Narrowed my decision to 3

#1 - LT285/75R16 GRABBER AT2 ($167)

#2 - 285/75R16 Terra Grappler ($202)

#3 - 285/75-16 KELLY SAFARI TSR BSL ($172)

Just wondering if someone has had/has these and has some input that may help me lean towards one. I am putting them on a 2008 Ram 1500 Single Cab on 16" Black Steel rims.
And has any pics of them on their truck if possible.

Pictures of what your looking at would help.

I like the looks of all three but when buying tires it comes down to the numbers for me. I always look at tread wear and I never buy anything less than 500 tread wear. A tire with a 400 or less will wear much faster than one with 500 or greater. Next would be the noise the tires put off. If you do a lot of highway driving do you want to hear the tires.. Next would be the ride quality. If you go to tirerack and look up each tire you can see all this info plus reviews of people that are running them.

I like the grabber AT2's, and I've read a lot of good reviews on them as well. Everything from treadwear to all condition handling. I believe they are "studable" as well. That doesn't matter to me, but it may if you live where it snows.

I've been trying to order some of these myself in a 315/75 16, but everyone seems to be backordered. That looks like a nice price, is that at a local shop? Or an online price? Discount tire direct has them for $192, but I believe that includes shipping (in the U.S. )

Will 16" wheels clear the calipers on a 2008??

My first question would be do you want/need a mud tire? I don't know what the manufacturer calls it but the Kelly sure looks like a mud tire to me. So you are comparing two A/T tires and a M/T tire. And the General looks a LOT like a BFG KO, but a lot cheaper I'm sure. As far as quality from what I have heard and read I would rank them from first to last as Nitto, General, Kelly. I guess it really just depends on what you are looking for. Unless you are just in love with the appearance I would drop the General....not because it's a bad tire but because there are two better choices for you. If you want a really aggressive tire and can live with a M/T, go with the Kelly. If you want an aggressive A/T tire that has loads of satisfied users and positive reviews, go with the Nitto. That would be my personal recommendation.

That's a great point! I didn't even think of that. 16" wheels WILL NOT clear on a third gen Ram. I do not know for certain about the 4th gen but I wouldn't think that the brake discs or calipers have gotten any smaller.

**EDIT** I don't know why the heck I was thinking his truck was a 4th gen, lol. As stated above, I have never tried it but I have read several different places that a 16" wheel will not clear the calipers on a 3rd gen truck. Sorry for the confusion!

So if you go with a 285/75R 17, then a follow on thought would be - is it a 2WD or 4WD? I'm running 285/70R17s on my 2006 2WD 2500 and I don't think 75s would clear. Your truck, being an 08 ST with a V6 probably came with 245/70R17s stock and I wouldn't go bigger than 265/70R17s - any more would be too much tire for that motor, even if they clear.
