Default suggestion for muffler?

I just purchased a 2012 Express Crew Cab. I want to exchange the muffle to get a nice deep soubd unless you guys suggest a cat back exhaust. I was thinking of a 14" muffler.

questions

1. Which magnaflow part number do you suggest?
2. Will I be able to swap it out myself or will I have to take it to a muffler shop?

I believe you have singel in and dual out so I would look for a Magnaflow with that configuration. I believe 3" inlet and 2.5" out.
I have a 3" single in and single out 18" magnaflow and I am realy pleased with it. If you want an exhaust on the quieter side go with a 24" muffler, or louder would be 14", with the 18" in between.

There are kits by Mufflex that you can install your self, they use Magnaflow mufflers. If you go with just a magnflow muffler you would have to have some pipe bent to make up the difference in lenght from stock and a hanger, might need a shop for this.I went with a 14"Mufflex kit took me about an hour to install,I like a more aggressive sound,24" would be slightly louder than stock but with a deeper tone, the 18" falls in between the two,all sound better than stock to me.Lots of sound clips on youtube of the magnaflow's,might help you decide....Rob

One other thing you might want to do is to have the resinators taken off. They quite the sound but leave them on first and listen to see if you like the sound you get. Then decide on cutting them out. Also dont get furstated if the sound is not what you think at first, some times it takes a day or so for the muffler to break in. At least thats how mine was. Good luck

I ended up putting a 14' flowmaster 44 series. I was afraid it was going to be too loud but it's perfect. They charged me $150 installed. I was afraid it would be too loud they told me 14 flowmaster would be louder than 14 magma flow but it was not too loud. At first I thought it wasn't Lou ebought but now I think I like it. No drone at all

too late to chime in..didn't think I needed to until I saw blowmaster installed...well you'll live in learn..it's louder than a mag and performs poorer... but that's just my experience on my ram...

Magnaflow 14" wont regret it.. after it broke in it sounds so awesome, lots of compliments.. had local muffler shop do install to be done correctly, welded up extensions and moved tips to better postion. Looks better than factory! Also heard some guys go with Mufflex kit for the DIY'ers and had great success!
