Default Need Better Fuel Mileage

What are the best mods you can do to a 2010 5.7 to increase fuel mileage? This thing is bone stock getting the avg. 13mpg but want more. Hell my 96 with a 360 averaged 12. Any thoughts or input will be appreciated

What I have always been told and am in the process of doing to increase MPG is to get a CAI, I personally went with Volant just because of the clean look.

You can do exhaust, CAI, Turner but your only going to see a 1 to MAYBE 4 MPG increase and that's a big maybe. If your heavy on the foot it's not going to make much of a difference. Best way is to keep your foot out of it. Good luck..

because of what the commercials say i can see people being a little upset with less than 15 mpgs. like anything else modding a truck for fuel mileage is usually counterproductive because most people like the sound so much the foot gets heavier inadvertently. best thing to do is keep all fluids full, air in tires, and keep it as light as possible. you wont get 20 mpgs in the city regardless of what you do. the less you use the brake the better you are driving. i dont know much more. but then again i get on it every chance i get and have never seen better than 7 mpgs in the city and 15 on the highway.

I have the MOPAR CAI, on my 2010 RAM 5.7L. I average through out the year a little other 13 mpg. That is for the whole year. We have taken it on trips to Kentucky and also to Mississippi. I live just south of Toledo,Ohio. On the Hwy I average anywhere between 16.5-19.3. That is with 5 passengers and luggage. I have a bed cover, soft. I have running tubes and a bullbar. The best you can do is stay moving, use cruise control as much as possible. The city is no place for a pick up. Stop and go, you will never see any kind of good mpg's. I was considering a tuner/programmer since I have the CAI. I went with MOPAR, due to the clean matching parts. Trucks are at a huge disadvantage. They sit up high, air going under and over create drag= bad for mpg. Other than what I have told you and what others have said, it is a truck. Want better MPG, buy a smaller auto. Not trying to be a jerk, it is just the hard fact of the matter. I have the 4x4 BigHorn.

Thanks all for the reply and sounds like we are all getting about the same. Don’t do too much daily highway driving. I’m hanging at the 13.5 range for the most part in the city and was just wondering who all got what and if there is a mod like a CAI that might get me another MPG. DodgeRamMan 71 agree with all your saying. Big trucks takes big drinks and city stop lights kills the mpg. I about wore out my 96 Ram 4X4 as she had 168,000 on it when I got my 2010. The 96 would had went anther 100,000 miles the way I take care of things. Just wanted to get into a new one and was hoping for a little better fuel mileage after I got her broken in. She now has 22,000+ miles on her now.

This is my second RAM, never get nothing better than 19.7 hwy or 16.0 city. I have a New Lone Star 4x4 3.92 after the 2nd gas tank I am getting around 14.0 to 15.1 city. and 17.6 hwy. To be honest I try not to pay a lot attention on MPG, I have own trucks for the most of my life and I enjoy drive them, and sometimes our pocket pays the price for it.

Just took this pic 01/2/2012. 3.92's LSD 4x4. 15.1 is not too bad IMO.
