Default Suggestions for an audio setup

OK guys this is my first time on your forum but I'm coming in hopes of getting a few ideas for a customers truck I have in the shop right now. If anyone has pictures of some over the top systems they would like to show please feel free to post or steer me in their direction. I'll tell you what I'm working with. Customer has a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 Reg Cab. First go round we did a Pioneer DEH-P88RS headunit but we are going to upgrade to DEH-P99RS. For Mids and Highs we have 2 sets of JL Audio ZR-650's and I'm going to add some ZR 8's to the kickpanels. HD amps for both. So the front soundstage is set pretty well and he was happy with the clarity. The place where he wants more improvement is the Low End. Currently I have 4 10W6v2's powered by 2 1000/1v1's in a sealed enclosure. Now my biggest question to you guys is (and if someone has already done it pleaseee let me know how it sounds) trying to get some W7's back there in ported enclosures. I'm open to any ideas ranging from 4 8's to 2 12's if you think I can get them in this reg cab. I've just never tried to downfire a W7 so maybe some of yall more familiar with the truck could lend me some pointers. Anyway I'm grateful for any and all input and I'll post some pics of the current install tomorrow so you can see what I'm working with. Thanks!!

I can't see how you could fit a pair of W7s in that space given the necessary enclosure size. I haven't seen the space behind the seats in the regular cab trucks so I might be wrong, but if you currently are running 4 10s that sounds like a decent size box. What about the current sound is lacking? If the enclosure size is too small that would make sense, but otherwise that should be rocking that small cab. Rather than 4 10s I would try 2 12s, W3s or W6s would be my pick. Also is the box ported or sealed? If you wanted to get creative, porting the box and running the port out to where it ended under the seats would give a nice touch with pulling the sound up towards the front of the cab and putting a little more thump under your butt.

Well, the front stage is almost identical to mine, I run 2x C5-650s and a ZR-800 in each door panel. If he's really looking for bottom end then you might want to look at the 13W6 if he feels like 4x 10W6 is not low enough for him. I'm currently running a 13W6 downfired in my center console powered by a HD750/1 , I upgraded my stealthbox to the W6 and ported out the bottom, sorry no pics. The bass notes are super clear and it lets you know that it's there, but outside of the cab even with the windows down you don't get the windows rattleing in the vehicle next to you.

Is he looking for SQ or SPL? If you want some serious SQ with a good bass note then downfire all the way, but if he just wants to drown out the vehicle next to him then you'd want to front fire with the port between the seats, either above or below the center console based on where you want the sound-stage to be.

How attached is this customer to his center console (assuming he doesn't have the bench seat)? If he's willing to get a custom box that takes over his center console then you have all the room you need to put 2 13s in there, hell, you could probably just go to the 12W7s and call it good. If he's really serious about getting some serious thump, you could always talk to him about a bed box with a blow-through, but that's getting pretty extreme and he'd need to have a locking fiberglass tonneau.

I'd be worried that if he's not happy with a sealed enclose in the limited space that he's going to be disappointed with fewer drivers in a larger ported space, but it would be his preference.

He has the bench seat so center console action is out of the question. What he wants and I quote "I want to be able to crank it with NO distortion and let the people at the stoplight hear me" Now taking into account the majority of his music appears to be bluegrass I'm not so sure how he plans to achieve the rattling bass but as I said I'm game for any ideas. I'm going to try to attach a pic so you can see whats in their currently and what kind of space there is to work with. Also do you have any pics of your door panels with the 650's and the 8's? Thanks for the input!!
