Default 97 ram 4x4 shifting question

my ram at times will start to go in and out of OD while driving down the highway. however, if i put it on cruise control, it stays in OD with no issues. in fact even if i take it back out of OD, it seems to work fine. Then a few days later, same thing happens. SInce putting it in cruise seems to fix the issue, i was wondering if this is a throttle sensor problem as opposed to a transmssion problem. ANy suggestions? if there is a throttle sensor some place, where is it and does anyone know how i can change it?
my tranny seems to work fine otherwise, the fluid level looks good and the fluid color is good. i just bought the truck about 6 months ago and have not done anything to it other than change the oil and sevrice the engine. i really do not know that the tranny has been serviced or when it was last. if it was doing this all the time, then i would assume it needed adjusting and the filters changed. but since putting it on cruise seems to help, i wondered about a throttle position sensor or something like that.
thanks for any help

Throttle position sensor, map sensor and speed sensor all control shifts, torque converter silonid lock up for over drive. Those tranmissions are all eletronic. So tps can have affect on od and could have a dead spot in it. And it is located on the side of throttle body on left side opposite throttle cable.

Thanks. Is there a way to test them? Expensive? Can I buy at auto zone and put on myself?

If its not setting codes you might have to hook up a code scanner, do real time diagnostic or reoplicate problem as you drive to auto zone and use there's.

Yep there's a map, unfortunately seems all cars do. Just to piss us off and set codes when they completely fail.
