nice I too have had a couple of 91-94 excorts a couple of them were the wagon styles never payed more than $600 plus a clutch for any of them, they run great, get decent mileage, I had one when I was 16 that me and a buddy fixed up and it was running high 13's with a 50hp shot seeing that makes me thing I might have to get another one they can be really fun cars, got a guy accross town here that has a escort wagon rally car.

Fair Market Value (NADA) On the car was $1900 to a private seller when I bought it. Here is the rundown:

Initial price paid-$800

New Tires: $240

New Shifter and boot: $25

New electric seatbelt rail: $30

New cargo cover: $10

New wipers: $20

New paint on bumpers and trim: $12

New wheel covers: $25.

New front brake pads, rotors and hardware: $70.

Altogether I am in this car for a total of: $1,232. I will have the windshield replaced shortly for $210 (cracked all the way across, fails saftey inspection).

After that is done, I will be in the car a total of $1442.

NADA puts high retail at $3,400. With the work I have done, I think I could easily get $2000-$2500 for it if I sold it now.

I was thinking of turning it into an SCCA beast, dropping it 2 inches, throwing in a roll cage, some STB's and dropping a 138hp DOHC 2.0L Zetec from a 98+ ZX-2 into it....

But in the end, it is only a commuter car for me. Nothing more.

Thats not too bad, they are very good commuter cars, like I said I have owned a couple and never really had an issue with any of them, and whenever I start getting minor issues (blow motor for heat goes out) I turn around and sold them for what I had in them or even more a time or 2 and went and bought another one , I like them for commuters and they are also really good if you have the 5 speed for teaching someone how to drive a standard

Just my thoughts, but yea I would have to agree you did get a steel on those if you find another killer deal on one let me know I might be interested

I do have the 5 speed, but mine is not to good for teaching someone to drive it right now. My clutch pedal is starting my car. To start it i have to turn the key to on, till the dash lights up. Then depress the clutch pedal to the floor. When the clutch pedal gets to the bottom of its travel, the starter engages. My hands can be off the key entirely, i dont even have to have the key in the ignition.

Doesnt really bother me, i am used to it now. You just cant push the pedal to the floor while its running already or itll engage the starter while the flywheel is spinning.

I had one that did the exact same thing, never did figure out what the cause was but I ran the hell out of it for about 40,000 miles and then sold it for $800 I think i only payed $750 for it when i bought it.

******* it, I wish I knew what it was so I could fix it, I am about to start replacing ignition switch, starter and relays LOL. Thing is I don't want to replace the ignition switch then have to have a separate key to start the car and to open the door.
