Default Help! Truck seizes up on me while driving.Noise.

Ok,my 99 Ram 5.9 4x4 has been making a clicking noise for a while under accerlation. Possible ujoint at the wheel I'm thinking since I replace driveshaft ujoints last summer. Had a problem getting driveshaft to line up perfect though and its had some wobble now and then. I don't think this is my issue but I know the passenger ujoint could use replacement.

Problem: driving down the road the truck seizes like the brakes are applied hard for a second. Maybe does that twice then goes away. Usually when truck is hotter.Clunking noise too. I'm thinking transfer case? Anything else I should look for? Almost sounds like the belt is slipping and click/clunk/seizes.

Thanks, so much.

I'm thinking that one or both of your axle joints is totally shelled out. If thats true, your yokes are catching on the hubshells, and that would mean you will be in the market for axle stubs and axle shafts. Hows 4wd working? does the wheel jerk when its giving grief? I don't understand the part about the driveshaft not lining up, could you expand on that?If you are not able to line up the ujoints wth the yokes, jack up a wheel, after chocking a wheel so the truck doesn't move while you're undre it, and turn the wheel until things align(or throw the transfer case into neutral)

you might want to check your brake fluid too. If your brake fluid is old and has not been changed it could be contaminated and when it gets hot will cause your brakes to contract.

Default thanks

sceamin, I meant that when I replace the ujoints on driveshaft I lost my lines to line up how they were previous. So trial and error I put it back on and rotated until it stopped vibrating. I'll check your suggestion as it sounds reasonable. Not to familiar with this part of the truck but I'll get the book out and check out.
Sound seems to come from under the rear driver seat.

Thanks

Default update

So had a shop give me a diagnosis and they want to start with a tuneup (plugs, cap, rotor etc..) $375.00. Mentioned something about possible valve or piston problem. Anyways, I picked it up and will do the tuneup myself. The tech did say he didn't see anything too bad in the plugs while they were out.

Truck just stumbles sometimes while driving.

Default update 2

don't know if anyone is following but maybe this will help someone someday.
Changed the distributor cap and spark plugs myself and it drives way better. Not stumble yet and just feels like it has way more power. There was one contact point on the cap that had like calcium deposits on it. Doubt that cylinder was firing correctly. Had all the parts already just dreaded it this summer. Was very easy with the use of a piece of plywood to lay across the engine on. FYI.
