Default Got a Superchips

Well I've been watching craigslist for a while for a good deal on one and finally got one this past weekend. Flashpaq tuner 3865 - I haven't been able to play around with it too much but right off the bat I can tell a little difference in the power and responsiveness.

I installed the 87 tune because I only use 87.. but there is also a tow/truck tune that I am thinking about trying out. Which do you guys think would give me better mileage?

sweet! can't wait to hear how it works out for you. When i was researching getting one, the superchips guys said the 87 tune would give the best gas mileage.

The 87 tune will definitely give better mpg over the tow tune. I run the 93 tune and love it, I have never tried the 87 tune so don't know if the mpg is better, but I'm happy with my mpg and the power. Anytime I take it off the 93 tune I get sad...

So what would happen if I put it on the 93 tune but ran 87 gas or 93 gas on a 93 tune?

I saw somewhere on these forums that if you are going to do any towing it would be best to run 93 gas if you are using a 87 tune because otherwise you might get detonation.. can anyone shed a little light on this?

It is extremely important to run the same octane gas OR HIGHER than the tune says. So for the 87 tune you NEED to use 87 octane or higher. For the 93 tune you NEED to use 93 octane or higher. If you use 87 octane with the 93 tune you will get detonation and could cause engine damage. It will run like crap as well.

I believe they say you need to use at least 91 octane with the tow tune. I (and others) have found that using the 87 tune with 91 octane while towing gives a great combination (better mpg than the tow tune).

You are not supposed to tow or haul weight with the performance tunes (87, 91, or 93). They advance the timing basically to it's limit before causing detonation, so if you add weight (load) you will get detonation. You can run the performance tunes with higher octane (such as the 87 tune with 91 octane) and tow then as the higher octane gives detonation protection.

Default performance chip

I have a first generation Hemi (2003). Yes, it gets crappy gas mileage. Which performance chip would best suit the old Hemi? I mainly would like to increase gas mileage a little. I don't think the Predator will work with an 03, but I'm not sure.

Got an update.

I gotta say, I am pretty happy with the SuperChips.. I have noticed that I can get up a hill on the highway and the truck doesn't need to downshift to keep its current speed (this used to bother me.. ALOT). Also, I think I'm getting slightly better MPG.. I haven't filled up yet but from what my averages tell me on my HUD, its looking like maybe .5 to 1.5 better MPG.

Added power is nice too!
