Default Truspeed; Speed Sensor Recalibrator

I am planning on installing a 4.5 icon lift with 35's and people told me that I would need to recalibrate my speedometer because of the bigger tires and wheels. Just wondering if anyone has one of these on their rigs? I talked with the guys at 4wheelparts and they told me they have sold alot of these to people with bigger wheels and tires.

Anyone have one of these, if so, does it work?

You would have to have someone with a star scan to do it. I've never seen a module that plugs in and does it for you unless you had a programmer like a SuperChip. I have heard that guys have been able to use a predator from a '10 to make changes to wheel diameter and a few other non-power related specs, but it's limited.

Excuse my lack of knowledge, but would a dealer have a star scanner? Could I just take it to them to scan the truspeed device?

any help is always appreciated.

Thanks

Might wanna call to see if the lift and wheel size change will void the warrenty before you take it in there.

Not sure about the 1500's but the biggest tire size we can go with on a 2500 is a 285. They no longer allow us to program tire revolutions like they did with DRB. The witech has set tire sizes that we have to choose from. I believe hypertech has a module for adjusting tire size only.

This is one that comes to mind but I have no idea if it works on a ram, I havn't done any reading up on it. Just knew about it. I am running 35's on my 2500 and have the biggest tire size programed which is the 285. http://www.hypertech.com/products-sp...alibrator.aspx

You will need one for every wheel speed sensor on the truck to keep the ABS from freaking out. And being it has an analog adjustment it will be next to impossible to set them all exactly the same. I would stay away from this product on a newer vehicle.

Appreciate the info. Good call on teh warranty also. I wonder if a 4.5 inch lift with 35s would void my warranty? Hmm, gonna have to call and check that out. Thanks fellas

well I called and talked to the dealer, and he told me the 4.5 lift w/35's wont affect the warranty, only if the lift causes problems. The I asked him if anyone had broken the code and he told me that they can get my speedometer to calibrate up to 285's. I think that 285's are 33's. So we'll see
