I think a big issue is inconsistency in Ram quality. Many people are having multiple and repeat issues. Others are having good luck with their Rams and are repeat customers.
This is my first Chrysler vehicle. I hope I am one of the lucky ones after the initial problems I had were corrected.

I had a broken rocker arm at ~800 miles.

Since then it has been solid.

When I bought my 1999 dakota it was in the shop for a week because it kept shorting out and frying the alternator, once the got it sorted out it ran like a champ till I traded it on this Ram.

I hope it is as reliable as the dakota was but the FEEL of the transmission makes me nervous.

Bottom line, the survey shows the truth.
Chrysler is cutting corners so people have problems with their brand new vehicles.

This is my first Ram. Only problem I have had is the MDS. It is a huge PITA and a 30K truck shouldn't have these problems IMO. They need to find a fix, and soon.

I agree with ram2500, I'm a GM guy all the way and this is my first time owning a 2011 ram 1500 and I love it a lot. Couldn't be happier. It's quite which will change soon and rides very smooth specially over bumpy roads. I've read like 6 rating sites about the dodges and they all rate the 2011 rams 4 out of 5 or 8 out of 10. F*** the JD POWER company, they r haters lol. I mean I just got my truck in mid janurary and got it with 100 miles on it and now has 900 miles on it and no problems at all. And if any occures I have it completely backed up by the warranty .

My 2004 didn't give many troubles until about 130,000 miles when the pinion bearing went in the rear, and shortly before that the 2 front hub bearings, but these were pretty hard used items on that truck. My 2011, no issues so far, 14k miles..

This thread was the one that showed up on the main page by the 2011 section. I have a 2012 though, and I love my truck. So far it has treated me well. Got it 3 months ago and have 4,000 miles on it with 1,000 of those miles towing. Of course, 4,000 miles is nothing on vehicles these days and you should expect not to have any mechanical issues on a new vehicle in that many miles. Everything is great on it BUT I get some crazy rear diff whine (at least that's what the dealer told me it was) and my TPMS light comes on about once a month and then goes off, but the tires are not low.
Some of y'all say you had terrible experiences with past Rams and have bought another one. I don't know if I could do that. My stepdad has over 100k miles on his 05 F150 with no problems and I drove my 2000 Camry to 217000 miles with no problems, just had to replace an EGR valve at 200k, other than that just maintenance. I expect the same out of my Ram. I've read a lot of people say about Rams they have had for a few years and with 100k miles or so on them - "oh it's been great, no major problems besides replacing the trans at 70k miles" or whatever. If I have to replace the transmission before...say...200k miles, I will probably be going with Ford for another truck. Definitely if it goes out before 100k.

But I won't go with Chevy. Ever.

^the transmissions in these trucks will last 200,000 miles EASY as long as they are not abused.

Wasn't Chrysler fighting bankruptcy in 2009? I suspect this might have been the main reason Chrysler's quality control was less than optimal. I've owned a sebring, Magnum and now a 2011 Ram 1500. None have been perfect but all have been at least as good as the GM and Fords I've owned. I'd buy a GM Ford and Chrysler again but never a Nissan again.

I couldn't give a happy horse$hit about surveys. The only opinion that counts is mine. I love my rig.
