Default exhaust question. please help!

hey guys i have a 2004 dodge ram 1500 v6. im wanting to improve the sound of the exhaust. make it sound louder and meaner. im 16 and i dont have the money right now to spend on exhaust parts. is there any free mods i could do to the exhaust system to find the sound im looking for? one of my buddies on my highschool baseball said something about cutting a part of the exhaust system to make it sound great. is this true? are there any mods, tips, or tricks you guys could tell me to help me out? i would really appreciate it! this forum has been great, you guys are awesome!

He is probably talking about cutting off either the muffler or the cats, I would recommend just changing the muffler out. flowmasters sound loud/deep, u could probably just change the muffler for around $100. Cutting the cats or muffler would give it a raspy popping sound when ur foot is in the throttle.

Like was already mentioned he was more than likely talking about cutting out the muffler, it will be very loud w/ no muffler. Save some money and get a magnaflow muffler from amazon or somewhere online, you can get them pretty cheap, like $80-90. Then you would just need to get it put on.

Just cut off the mufflers fire it up see if u like the way it sounds won't be as loud as everyone says being a v6 but you can do that and if you like it extend the pipes out to complete the exhaust if it's to loud buy a set of mufflers or glasspacks but make sure u extend the exhaust all the way back where it was or u risk the gasses getting into the cab. Very toxic
