sounds like we have some responsible and very smart thinking peep's here at the forums!
every one is saving, paying bills or making the $$ work for them.
That's just cool.

I try to make my taxes break even each year - not pay too much and not pay too little. My CPA helps keep that in line. I typically end up getting a little bit back anyway which is much better than having to pay (been there, done that). The wife and I are wanting to build a house on some land we purchased a few years ago so any extra funds are saved/invested to go towards that effort. Otherwise, I would blow it on truck mods and new guitars.

Nothing cooler than being a part of the building of your own home on your own land dude!
(Make sure you have enough $$ and do the research on the company you hire, not likely you get some one like we did but my parents didn't research enough for sure!)
Parents did the same and wanted to have a home built, unfortunately we were swindled by the construction company (they actually even destroyed the framing) and our family ended up dead poor for some time and that home is still till this day unfinished.
But it's still ours and some day we'll have $$ to help our parents finish this 21 year project!

I'll go first.

We just moved into a house 8 or so months ago, and the windows are all single pane windows. With the free way on the other side of a 10' wall that leads to about a 50' drop we can still hear motorcycles and muscle cars. So we're replacing all rear windows/doors.
Plus this will help with Heating and Cooling of the house.
Summer's are brutal in Phoenix and if your house has single pane windows you better have $$ to fork up for an electric bill and a good AC that can run day/night.

With any change left over it's going towards one of our 3 credit cards.
so, no upgrades for me, although I've been working on my Infotainment set up for some time $$$.
Why are U paying in and letting the government have your money with no interest added? Just an ole accountant wondering....

#'s is my enemy. LOL
I've had to pay before and I did not like it.
So I changed it so that I usually get about $1k.
Now with two kids and a couple homes I get a lot more than that.

What would a good ole accountant suggest? And I'm truly asking

Just keep informed and check the new tax brackets each year. All the Bush tax cuts are scheduled to expire first of next year. Stand by for "Shaft"

I used to convert 'em to liquid, now it's just a spoon full of dirt to go in the hole my ex-wife dug.
