Hi everyone im a newbie with a question. first let me tell what i got (2004 1500 slt w/ 5.7l hemi) Im pulling a camper maybe 3 to 4 times a year that appx. weigh a total of 8600 with everything. Now im in the market of maybe looking for a new model truck but not sure if i should get a 1500 4x4 or 2500 or just work on some upgrades for my truck. i need some help!! thanks

With that weight. I would consider moving up to a 2500. You must add all the weight of your passengers to the 8600lbs if you haven`t already.

I would definately look into a 2500 with that much weight

Set of $100 air bags, electric brake controller, and call it good. 1500 rides nice, better milage, lower to the ground, so on. I ran half tons for years towing big loads. I moved to a 2500 because it had a solid front axle.

Given the frontal area, length and weight I like the extra stability and stouter drivetrain components of the 2500.
