Still have a stock intake? Better open that up for better flow too, goes hand in hand with exhaust and tuner to complete the "Big 3"

You'll want at the very minimum, a drop in K&N replacement flat filter
perhaps mod an extra inlet hose to the bottom of the stock box.

Other CAI options for a little more money:
aFe, Mopar, K&N,Airaid, Volant and Vararam.

I've used 3 different setups on my Ram before finally settling on the Volant. 3 good reasons:

100% sealed system with a lid , wont allow hot engine air in
Excellent high flow Dry filter good for 100k miles, never needs cleaning/oiling
Optional port in the bottom for a Ram Air tube.

CAI (Cold Air Intake) thread in the performance section:

Hi and thanks for your reply.
I actually have a AFE stage 2 intake with dry filter already and a superchips cortex.
Got another question though would I need a custom tune or would my cortex be capable of the added headers ?
Also how much is install on this ? I have basic mechanical experience and I'm not sure if this install is to advanced for me.
Tx.....Eric

No tuning required for shorty headers, and Superchips cant do custom tuning.
The only option for custom tuning long tubes if you want to adjust for air/fuel ratio is Diablo.

My local Dodge dealer said swapping stock manifolds books for 6 hours.
So your price will depend on the going shop rate.

Best bet is to find someone near you who has done it before and has the tools and experience to help you DIY.
a real mechanical novice on their own without the right tools may struggle just to get the wheel well liners out.

It's not really hard with a little assistance, after all it's just nuts and bolts man
just time consuming tedious work in a small cramped space.
with little range of motion to turn a bolt an 1/8th turn at a time.

Thanks for all the insight, seems I'm all set to go then, now just to see how I will get them installed...

Thats probally because the headers are "off road" not CARB smog legal and could void your warrenty. They also won't pass a visual smog test. Legal headers have a stamped or welded CARB number on them.
I installed 'Doug's' legal CARB headers on my 04 Ram but yet to find a CARB certified header for my 2010.

There is a good chance the JBA's won't set off a CEL and they could pass smog in some states.
IMO> I would charge $200-$250 for the install, that would include re-torquing the bolts twice. Metal OEM gaskets won't require re-torquing.

I also bought the uncoated headers and am now kinda wishing I would have bought the ceramic coated, what kind of ceramic coating are you guys using on these? A spray on? Where did you get it?

Spray on is worthless. Send them out for ceramic coated inside and out, they will be 300 deg. cooler under the hood to help save your heater hoses. I like the 'silver' coating..see below my 05 ram after 4 years use.

Why do you feel that ceramic is better? Better flow?

So your saying there is a chance I will throw a code? Check engine light?
And if so I can't pass nys inspection ?
