Default Calling all Cooper tire owners...

I know there are a million tire threads (believe me, Ive read most of them this week) but I was hoping to get some quick feedback from the guys running Cooper Zeon LTZ's.

I was drawn to this tire after reading comments from many happy owners on here. It seems like people are pleased with how they perform and with the look, but I am worried about WEAR and TREADLIFE. Can anyone running these give me some feedback on the treadlife?

I notice that cooper puts a mileage warranty on the Discoverer A/T3 tire, but not the Zeons. That has me concerned to the point where I may go with the A/T3's instead.

Aside from the wear question, I was also to see a few more pics of these tires on the Rams. Any pictures would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your help!

The Cooper Zeon LTZ is the best set of tires I've had on any vehicle (even better than the Pirelli's I've had). Look great, perform great, made in USA, and tread wear is great. I have over 15,000 miles on mine and honestly they have basically no wear (even with some chirping of the tires). I've also only rotated them once in that time. About to rotate them again.

I can take pictures this evening to show you how the tread after 15,000 miles.

Here's other pictures of them(265 70 17):

In the last pic the one on the left is one size bigger, don't remember the size off hand...

Here's a pic of the larger size mounted, I opted for the smaller tire:

Default great pics. great info.

Thanks for those pics. They are much appreciated.

I figured that with the "chunkier" tread pattern the wear would be bad. It is VERY encouraging to hear that is not the case. I also thought the tread pattern would make for a noisier tire on the highway. Do you find they are noisy?

You are obviously very happy with them... Have you run them in snow? How are they in the wet (compared to day the stock Goodyears)?

Thanks again.

They are very quiet and smooth for how aggressive they look, they are very deceiving. I honestly noticed no more road noise as compared to the stock good years.

No I live in FL so no snow, so can't comment there. Also I don't play in the mud so can't comment there. I do work construction and drive in the dirt a lot and they are SO much better than the good years were. I get in some minor mud sometimes on wet days but haven't had any traction issues or got stuck or anything like that. I never got stuck with the good years either but always felt like I was about to.

They are great in the rain for an AT. Much more traction than the good years all around, wet or dry. If I would floor it from a stand still on dry pavement with the good years it would smoke the tires, with these it usually does a chirp and that's it. Every once in a while it'll break loose, I think it just depends on the surface.

Hearing that they are better in the wet than the stock Goodyears is a big bonus. I have never been too picky about tires in the past, but these Goodyears seem to be particularly bad in wet.

Gregster:

I see you have a Sport, so I'm assuming your staying with the stock 20's. Cooper has three tires for our trucks. Cooper Discoverer A/T3, Cooper Zeon LTZ, and this Cooper Discoverer ATP which is exclusively made for Discount Tire. From what I gather scouring the internet, this ATP is kinda a cross between the AT3 and the Zeon when you look at the tread pattern. However, it appears to be made out of similar silica-based material to the AT3, AND comes with the 55k mile warranty. 11BigHornBlue just got a set, and likes them.

Myself, completely confused what I want other than getting rid of my Goodyears with only 4500 miles on them. I damn near got stuck in soft wet grass last weekend having to toss her in 4wd just to move. Wet roads typically yield the ole pucker effect for me.

I'm a believer in these Coopers....read too many positive reviews, and comments from other forum members. Just wished they had raise white letter tires in the 20's.

Thanks for the info. I'll check those out. I'm up in Toronto, and my dealer only had the at3 and the Zeons.

Like you, Im torn on choosing a tire! As you said, though, there are just TOO many glowing reviews of the tires for them to not be good. I even checked out an f150 and tundra forum, to see what those boys were saying about them. They like em a lot too.

As you mentioned, I have a sport. I wanted an aggressive tire for snow but nothing TOO "chunky". To me, the Zeons are right on the edge between looking aggressive and looking TOO "off road" for my taste.

What set me on the cooper zeons was that I drove onto a site one day and saw about 1/3 of the trucks in the parking lot had them on their trucks. Must be good if so many people are using them...

Well I had about different 3 tires in mind, but I think I'm going to follow your lead and go with the Zeons. Gonna put in a call for a price tomorrow morning.
