Default Headers? What can I expect from them?

I'm considering headers, well, wondering if I'll benefit from them anyway.

2003 4.7, with Magnaflow dual cat back and a K&N FIPK.

What kind of performance increase did you guys who have done it experience?

Did it make the exhaust any louder? How about fuel economy?

Thanks

i dont have headers on my truck right now...... but i have straigh pipes loud but not great low end power and torque..... headers depend on what you get long or short tube and what kind of cats you do.... if you leave stock cats your not gonna get the performance and sound you want out of the headers...... i would do no cats or high flow cats also it depends of if you have a tuner or chip cause you need to have something there to clear codes and remap your fuel air ratio the right way...... leaving stock cats and other things will cause it not to get the power gains and you can burn up your o2 sensor in the cat cause of it running rich. i know im babbling ill cut it short i would run long tube headers with a high flow cat put the o2 sensor after the cat and run a single chamber muffler..... have a cold air intake and a programmer...... on my 1997 dodge with all this 5.2l i lost gas mileage but with everything gained 43.6 horsepower and 74.9 ft lbs of torque......with other mods like rebuilt tranny with shift kit

They don't make longtubes for the 4.7l. You have to custom build them if you want them. And if you don't have a nicely moded motor the headers are a waste IMO.

Why, pray tell, would swaping the headers alone burn up the stock cat or o2 sensor? The headers on their own should not make it run any richer.

i have gibson headers on my 2002 4.7L
and i noticed a lot of low end torque and high end horsepower
were i go to school were getting a dyno put in im going to do a run with them on and then put my stock manifolds back on and run it again....but it's not going to be true stock numbers because i bored my motor .020'' over but when the dyno gets put in i'll post vids and pics for ya
