Paid 3.54 yesterday. Also put in a little over 25 gallons, so that really hurt. There's no doubt my civic will be seeing a lot more action as prices go up this summer.

Here is the math. For what I pay in gas at $5 a gallon, I can pay TWO Ram payments.

5x28=$140...A week.

$140x4=$560 a month. Even when I had a truck payment, It was $450 a month...so not even in the same ballpark. No matter which way you slice it, $560 is a hit in the wallet every month for 99% of people, its a noticable change from $3 a gal ($336 per month).

Will I be driving my truck to the point where I use a tank of gas a week? Absolutely not. She is getting parked. Not going to drive her to work when I have a perfectly good 4-banger in the driveway.

Well for me I get nearly 2 weeks out of a tank (that's probably a hair of a stretch, but whatever)...

That's:

26 fill ups per year @ 26 gallons(I think?) x $3 per gallon = $2,028

vs:

26 fill ups per year @ 26 gallons(I think?) x $5 per gallon = $3,380

So the difference is $1,352. Yeah it's a lot of money, but realistically over a year with two salaries in the house it's not going to kill most people. Also, I doubt I really drive THAT much, it's just a generalization. Sometimes I ride my bike to work and that's probably about half the year. Also we use the wife's car a lot. So it's probably more like $800 difference or something, not $1,352. IMO it is a lot of money, but not the end of the world. We could probably save more money just by not eating out every damn day lol...
