Default Chrome flaking off new rims...less then 3 months old!!!

So I got some 2 Crave Rims (22's) less then 3 months ago from Performance Plus Tire online. Noticed the other day that on 1 of the wheels the chrome is flaking off. Not just a little, but a good chunk. After the steam from my head faded I e-mailed them a picture and they stated to go ahead and send back to them and they will inturn send back to 2 Crave for warranty replacement. All good except I'm EXPECTED to pay for the shipping. Oh and also prior to shipping I have to have the tire taken off the rim, then when getting the rim back I have to have the tire put back on and rebalanced. I called Performance Plus Tire and told them I don't feel I should be responsible for those costs since I was sent a defective wheel! They agreed to pay the return shipping ONLY. Well I'm not satisfied with that so they gave me the phone number to 2 Crave and I called them. At first they didn't even want to talk to me becuase they said they don't deal with the consumer directly. Bullshit I said...I want someone to explain to me why I'm responsible for these additional charges to FIX a defective product they sold. Basically I'm screwed they will warranty the rim but the rest of the costs I have to eat. I am not happy about this at all.

That is typical with aftermarket wheel manufacturer's. Not suprised. Typically when you buy wheels they will only warranty the wheel, and will not cover remocal/reinstallation costs. They should however, cover return shipping.

Where this does not apply is with High-end wheel manufacturer's like Vossen, HRE, I-forged, BBS, etc. These wheel manufacturer's will bend over backwards for your business. But when you drop $5,000+ on just wheels, I would expect nothing less.

I'm actually debating on just getting them powder coated. Still researching that though to see how much that will set me back. I believe there is a place near by that can do it, just need to get a quote from them.
