Default Camaro Kill (Literally)

This is why street racing is bad kids!

On my way to work this morning I stopped at the convenience store for soda and saw a fellow co-worker there. When we left he got on it, I did so as well right behind him. Just as I caught up with him, a box truck appeared out of no where. He slung it sideways to avoid it but hit the rear wheels of the box truck HARD. I'm talking somewhere in the 90MPH range. I locked em up and swung it between him and a curb. Couldn't have been more than a couple inches wiggle room. I got away without any damage except a wasted pair of under britches. My buddy only needed a few stiches in his arm. The Camaro is toast and the rear axle of the box truck was knocked out from under it.

Not 2 be mean but your both at fault here, had you not got on it as he did he might of just slowed down and ran a normal drive to where he was going. You are right in your statement of "This is why street racing is bad kids!" but one needs to also understand the implications and the responsibility of ones actions, the Box truck person, his losses, his time, his job, etc. What had it not been a truck but a kid on a bike, a woman with her child. You got off without a scratch, you are lucky, I have seen it first hand where lives have been shattered because people with a hunk of metal thought they are immortal and never considering the implications of something going wrong where others are not aware that there is a 26 year old adult speeding with no respect for the lives of others or what could possibly happen, yes accidents can happen, but immature thought processes can kill and destroy lives. If I said there are places to do this kind of stuff you will probably say something along the lines of "yes there are". I am taking a guess in the dark here but I will presume you learn t something from the accident and will think twice about the next time you decide to race someone on the local roads. I am also presuming you started this tread to try and teach others through your experience what one should not be doing. I am one to believe one does not need to plow there vehicle into a tree just to know what it will feel like. That being said, you was lucky, I am also writing this so if a member reads this, it may give them a few more things to think about if ever they decide that racing some Chevy or Toyota is the cool thing to prove his Ram is better. Earlier I said I know first hand what devastation can be of an immature and stupid decision of street racing can have, the 7 year old girl on her bike never survived the impact. The family never survived the impact of there daughters death, you should today see the guy that was driving the Grand Cherokee Overland, never recovered either. Sorry, not trying to be mean, JMO. Think twice before you Race, its costs on all levels.

For what it's worth.....Glad your ok.....With that being said. I have seen way too many fatalities that have been a result of excessive speed....If you want to speed go to the track.....The fortunate part is that there were no life threatening injuries......The part people don't get to see if when a person like me has to knock on someones door letting them know that their family member was killed in a collision that could have been prevented.....I am in no way trying to slam you for posting that info, but I think its important to note that this type of activity causes innocent people to lose their life.....In the end I am glad that you and your friend are ok.........

On that note good luck with insurance rates, especially if by chance the insurance company completes their own investigation.....

Just in case anyone is wondering the cops and insurance companies have gone through their process. Even with admitting to speeding they have deemed it primarily the box truck's fault. The spot where we pulled out from was about an 1/8 mile from where he pulled out. They said if he had stopped and looked both ways he would have seen us coming. He did admit to not stopping because it was so early he didn't think anyone would be coming down that road. Not saying that it makes us in the right here but don't pretend the box truck driver was innocent either.

Not gonna apologize for what seems like beating a dead horse, but innocence, who is or who is not innocent, is not the issue. Stupidity is the issue. Any street racing accident is 1 to many. I've been to my share of street racing accidents, and I will never be able to unsee the senseless, stupid bloodshed, loss of life and physical damage that I have seen. Grant it, that's the profession I chose, however, those with loved ones and innocent bystanders/passangers never had a say in it. Just don't do it.
