I just sold my 2006 Ninja also. Traffic in Las Vegas is crazy, theres a motorcycle fatality every week without fail, and it's just not new riders. I figure I'll pick up a dirt bike down the road. I've had a bike in the garage for the last 40 years, won't miss helmet hair however.

Helmet head is exactly why I started buzzing -and now shaving- my head. ....That and the fact that I was loosing it rather quickly anyhow

If you are only an occasional pleasure rider you probably did the safe thing giving it up. I'm an everyday biker and thats my primary transportation. Sure I've been run over and run into but never seriously injured. A full time biker has to ride very defensively these days with all the yoyos in cars who think they can drive and do something else at the same time. I always expect the drivers to do something careless or stupid and they do with distressing frequency. I have a lot of experience at problem avoidance and it really takes a lifetime to develop. I see two kinds of motorcyclists who typically get into trouble; the first is the mid-life crisis guy who goes out and buys a harley with no skill in riding and the second is the young hotdog on the crotch rocket. The first type should stick to organized group rides and the second will hopefully live long enough to develop caution and skill. Always wear a helmet, practice zen and the art of motorcycle maintainence, and ride safe. If you cannot do that stick to your truck.

I always ride thinking that someone is trying to kill me. My head is always on a swivel, I am always looking for my escape route, be it while in motion or while stopped...

Once you realize that you've got a large target on both the front of your helmet, and on your back, you can have a blast riding.

I just wish that I had more time to do so.

Selling your bike(s) always sucks, been there twice myself. I feel for ya there.

But what sucks even worse is wanting another and arguing with yourself if the risk (idiot cagers leaving your family husband/fatherless) is worth it.
