Nah.... it's the project. I'm more of a Star Trek guy than Star Wars.

Got the dome cut off the rear today... it was a bit more work than I estimated.

Welded the rear spiders today. Will start putting the rear axle back together tomorrow after I flip the chunk.

It seems once every few years I forget what happens when I weld without sleeves. Those tiny little slag sparks are only a reminder of what will come if you continue to weld without covering up. Yup, it's not terrible, but I gave myself a "sunburn" today.

Got the courage today and went all-in on the frame chop. I moved the truck back before the cut so I now have a lot more room to work around the front. I can't really can't wait to get my shop built.

XC450, I used to have more projects than I could handle. Now, aside from making an income, I have 2.

1. Make the grass grow. (This is number one because I'm married.)
2. StormTrooper

Other than making the drive to get more metal, UPS delivered today.

That is all.

Been busy on a few home projects, so been moving slow on the StormTrooper. I've been waiting on some hub bearings, but finally got those and started putting things back together.

I've just about got the chunk flipped. I found these transfer punches online and they worked great for marking the location of the new holes in the chunk.

Once you get the punches set in the housing, set the chunk using the 4 unmoving studs as guides and whack the chunk with a dead blow hammer a few times.

I also test fitted the boot guards after wrestling the boots on. I elected to go with the one piece boots. The big difficulty is keeping the opposite you are working on in place as you get the whole thing seated. My 7 year old daughter provided the extra set of hands I needed to keep it place while I worked on the opposite side.

I hope to have this axle completed and roughly located under the truck on the stock deuce wheels later this weekend.... my Stazworks have not yet arrived, but should be ready to ship in the next week or so based on the time table they gave me when I ordered.

Man you are a craftsman, I seriously applaud you for doing all this work yourself. You put a lot of time into this and I don't care if things slow you down man, it's an awesome build to watch take place. It's like grilling the perfect steak lol
