Default Bilstein 5100 Adj Shocks Question?

I am either going to order the HBS 2.5' leveling kit or some Bilstein adjustable shocks here soon. I am leaning towards the Bilstein adjustables but my question is since I am only really after leveling my truck, would there be anything wrong with just ordering a set of Bilsteins for the front and leaving the stock shocks in the rear?

Nope.

I bought all 4, front and rears. Why? Just because I'm anal about that stuff. Some owners just have the fronts. It's no better or worse. Bragging rights maybe is all.

Some people just replace the fronts and some people replace all 4. I think it's a matter of personal preference rather than having to replace the rear. If you plan to get the Bilstein's you need to be prepared to wait at least until the middle of April or the first of May. The 5100 adjustables are on nation wide back order and Bilstein has said they are not going to produce any more until the first or middle of April. If you think that is a little long to wait then you can go to their Facebook page and ley them know how happy you are about having to wait for a couple of months for parts. Retailers continue to sell those shocks, knowing they don't have them in stock and they just keep taking your money for something they do not have.

My shocks were here in 5 days and I ordered them a week ago. Just got to know where to find them. All 4 set me back $354. You can order them cheaper, but yeah you'll be waiting for the next shipment.

I don't think there's any reason to replace the rear shocks. You aren't lifting the rear at all and the shocks on it are new. I'd just get the front Bilsteins and call it good.

I ordered mine from 4 Wheel Parts online. Paid $219.98 with free shipping. Ordered them March 1st and got them today.

hey can someone explain how to me how these bilstein shocks level or lift your truck?
Dont you need a spacer kit for any sort of lift?

The way I believed it to be is you need new shocks if you get a lift to account for the shock travel?

Thanks for the responses guys. Are there any pros/cons to getting the bilstein adjustables vs a HBS 2.5' leveling kit for example?

The bilsteins do not pre-load the spring. The lift comes from the spring being lifted up by the snap-rings positions of the shock. The shocks are valved properly for this application. Life time warranty. Your going to have to replace the shocks some time anyway. Much better ride. In my opinion it feels better than factory.

Spacers sit on top of the spring. Some may argue this but from past experances. the spring gets compressed in turn giving you your lift. Which takes away from your ride. And the shock valving now is not correct for your application. Also price most of the time spacers are cheeper. The installation is prety close to the same.
