2012 Ram 1500 here. Ordered my entire kit (DBALL2, harness, and pre-programmed) from Ebay for $89 total. Used Doug43235 is who I bought from, as mentioned by other users here.

Got it today. Doug included printouts showing how he confirmed what firmware went on the DBALL2 and another print out showing that it was flashed correctly with 402.Chrysler 5.06 firmware.

Took out of the box. All was there and nicely packed. Took it out to truck, unscrewed the 2 screws holding on the bottom plate under the steering wheel, unplugged wiring harness going to ingnition key, plugged that into the CHTHD1 T wiring harness I ordered, plugged that into the DBALL2, observed the red LED light, inserted key, turned to ON, saw LED on DBALL2 flash green, removed key, hit UNLOCK on my key fob, observed LED turn green, hit UNLOCK on key fob 3 times, started getting mad that it didnt work....reread directions, realized its LOCK button, hit LOCK button 3x and started right up.

I think it took me about 4 minutes to get to the remote start attempt and then another 4 minutes while I tried to find my wire ties so I could finish tidying it all up so I could put it back together. Its literally so easy, I keep thinking I must have missed a step!

Awesome product for $89 and I hope my post puts some confidence in those on the fence on doing this.

I plan on hooking up the parking lights and hood wiring as soon as I get a chance. Its dark and 11 degrees out right now, so this is as far as I could take it. Will update or repost if I do the lights, etc.

UPDATE to my last post......

I hooked up the parking lights. Just as easy as the original install.

It uses a different wiring bus than the starter T wiring uses, but it comes with the DBALL2. On that harness, it clearly shows to use the 2 violet wires on the harness to the #1 wire (white) on the headlight switch. Again, popped the 2 screws off the kick plate under the steering wheel. Looked up and behind the dash to where the headlight switch is. Unplugged that harness. Sure enough, its a 10 wire as with #1 position being white wire.

I stripped down the 2 violet wires from the DBALL2 connector as the directions said to do, twisted them together, and then back fed them into the wiring harness #1 position so they are piggy backed with the white wire. Made sure no stray wires came out of my "jamming in" method. Wire tied that together tight so I dont have to worry about it coming out later, etc.

Hit the lock button 3x on the remote. Parking lights come on and she starts right up. It does NOT matter what position the actual headlight switch is in. If this wiring is hooked up, remote starting gives you your parking lights AND your driving lights if you use them.

Once you get in and put the key in, you will see that the "lights on" indicator is lit on the dash even if the headlight switch is OFF. Once you put your foot on the brake, the headlights and indicator return to the correct state of however the headlight switch is actually set.

This is the gift that keeps on giving. Next up, the hood switch.

I'll be interested to hear about the hood switch. I've had my Dball installed for a while and love it, but mine didn't come with any instructions so I haven't attempted the hood switch yet.

Great post. I just bought a 2010 SLT and was looking for a remote start, this sounds like the one to get. One question, after you remote start and get in is it the same as other ones that turn key on and tap brake to keep it running?

Correct.

Once you remote start it: when you put in the key, turn it, and then hit the brake pedal; you are now running via the actual key-in-the-ignition and not the remote start circuitry.

Also, if you have the parking lights hooked up correctly, once you press the brake pedal, your lights will return to whatever position the headlight switch is in.

Smile

Just installed this on my 07 Ram 2500.

Got it from dough43235 off ebay as others did.

Being an 07 my T-harness was CHTHD2.

FYI make sure the override switch is set to "OFF".

I had it switched to "ON" and scratched my head for about an hour until I figured this out.

Thanks for the thread

For the 2013 and 2014 its going to be a little more expensive. You have to flash it yourself as the person who sold it to you cant do it anymore. something to do with new electronics for those years Quote The DBALL Key2Go Firmware flashing process is a 2-stage process and must be done at the vehicle. (Previously, for the 2006-2012 Dodge RAM vehicles, the DBALL could be flashed ahead of time with the 401.chrysler v5.06 firmware and then the DBALL just needed to be plugging into the vehicle. This procedure no longer works on the 2013 / 2014 Dodge RAM vehicles because Chrysler made significant changes to the electronics on the 2013 vehicles. Therefore to accomplish DBALL remote starting with your factory remotes, the DBALL now needs to be flashed / programmed at the vehicle, rather than ahead of time.) An XKLoader2 Gen2 Programming Tool (Flashtool) will be needed with access to a Computer to do the DBALL flashing) $ 169 on E-Bay so for me up here in Canada ita gonna be over $200 bucks.

Try this, great guy to work with. Tell him what truck you have and he will flash it, then all you do is plug it in. It is that simple.
