I'd really like to get one of these express kits for my 2010. I'm a little confused, that doug seller still has a few of the cheaper kit available. do I want that one or the other more expensive one? and why? is there a benefit of one over the other?

I emailed him the other day with questions but haven't had a reply yet.

I'd like to go pre-flashed and as simple as possible.

thanks for the clarification and sorry for the typical newb post

if anyone has some other suggestions, feel free to pm me if required

The DB-ALL(Cheap kit) no longer supports via firmware upgrade the 3x lock start function. It is now to be used only with a separate auto start unit. Or, you could get the 3x/5x unit which is more expensive but does support the 3x lock start function. The guy on ebay your speaking of had a few that he had flashed prior to the Oct 1st firmware cutoff date.

Doing auto electronics for years, I have never been a fan of DEI(makers of expresskit, viper, etc). This current move just reinforces my opinions of the company. With that said, the Flashlogic Databus adapters are most awesome. They have a similar T Harness options, are cheap, offer better options and still do the 3x lock start function if you don't want to do a separate alarm/Start unit. Also, they have a cool smartphone app that allows you to program the unit to your car, and it gives wiring diagrams to you vehicle right on the screen.

thanks for the reply rescue1. I actually have a brand new remote start aftermarket unit sitting in a box downstairs. it was for a previous vehicle that I never got around to having in stalled.

http://www.prostartsystems.com/Produ...CT-5472TW.aspx

thing is .. I hate the remote on the aftermarket one, don't care that it's two way. I'd prefer to retain my factory fob.

is that what you were eluding to in your post. there are ways to hook up an aftermarket system and use the factory fob?

are there any price conscious basic kits out there that are easy to install, that you would recommend? (with alarm would be a bonus) as my stupid truck doesn't have a factory security system). lol

thanks for your time.

I went to the Express Kit site and saw they no longer support the 3x function as of October.
I'm very interested in the Flashlogic Databus adapter you mention. Could you expand on this?
Would you have the part numbers or links to purchase it?
It's now 5 F outside and I really would like to install this.
Thanks,

I did a quick Google search on the Flashlogic Databus kit and ordered this unit from Amazon for $129
I'll let everyone know how it works when I receive it.
The unit mentioned by the OP does not support the 3x lock start any longer. (Since October 2014)

it says that this is not supported on a 2013 1500.

http://www.flashlogic.com/product/pr...ehicle_id/6153

can anyone confirm that it works ?
