I just renewed mine and it was $320 which is all tax. The tag fee is only $20 but they give me this one free for being retired military. The most screwed up thing here is all your vehicles are due on your birthday no matter what month you bought it. With two trailers, a motorcycle and an antique car plus the Ram my total registration bill was $450. All but $80 of that was tax.

When I moved to WA, I looked at getting a WA registration for my Ram. When I was in NY, because I was active duty, my sales tax was almost nothing. WA wanted to charge me 10.5% sales tax, the title fee, and the registration fee, to register my truck. The total would have come to over $3,000.

I kept the NY plates and reg, good for 2 years. When I go to Texas on leave, I will change the registration to TX, which is my home of record. The registration/tags in Texas? $90.

Well my 08 Super Bee is $294.75 and the 10 Ram is $416.75. Worst part or should I say hardest to chew was paying off both vehicles in less than 1 month apart. I feel so light in the wallet. But at least they aren't getting any more interest from me.

It's all such a racket. I had my dad's ford's title signed over to me, my old s10's title signed over to me, and my buell title signed over to me all at once a while back. I went to the dmv and paid for all the title transfers plus registration on the s10 and buell. I went with the intent to spend a few hundred bucks. The bill was over $1,000. I couldn't believe it. It wiped out all extra money I had at the time.

For my non-Amateur radio plates, it's $50 per year (renewed every 2 years). My Amateur radio plates are free provided I keep the proper equipment in the truck and my License stays current.

Mine's around $85.00 I think.

But that brings me to another point. Why do I have to renew it every year. My friend got a ticket for an "unregistered" vehicle because the plate was expired for about two years and the ticket was issued by the local Code Enforcement Officer. The truck was sitting in his driveway...but the ticket had the plate number and all his information on it.

How is that "unregistered"? Sounds like it was registered to me to get all that info.
