Cool What are you doing with your Tax Return?

Just curious, what is every one doing w/Uncle Sam's help this year?... Or do you owe on your Taxes this year?

I'll go first.

We just moved into a house 8 or so months ago, and the windows are all single pane windows. With the free way on the other side of a 10' wall that leads to about a 50' drop we can still hear motorcycles and muscle cars. So we're replacing all rear windows/doors.
Plus this will help with Heating and Cooling of the house.
Summer's are brutal in Phoenix and if your house has single pane windows you better have $$ to fork up for an electric bill and a good AC that can run day/night.

With any change left over it's going towards one of our 3 credit cards.
so, no upgrades for me, although I've been working on my Infotainment set up for some time $$$.

I use the State & Federal income tax system, like another bank account
I pay in extra all year long & that money covers any deficit that may arise
I have only three 1099s this year, last year i had at least six & that is normal.
Any extra return money will go into my Business Checking account.
It just sits there growing, waiting for me to buy a New Truck
Doesn't look like it will be a 2013, not enough money & i don't want another Gen 4 Ram
The 2013s look like a Gen 4 & there is no mention of an 8 speed yet

I'm the same way, I always try to pay a little extra to make sure I end up getting some change when its tax season.
Having two kids has helped as well!

I love your plan though GTYankee!
Save a few years and then BAM, NEW TRUCK/CAR!!!
Very cool, thx for sharing!

That's funny I have single pane windows and thought about replacing them as well. Decided against it for now though, our electric bill stays pretty low since we have a new AC and well insulated house. Also newer appliances and all that energy efficient stuff helps.

I'm not sure how much I'm getting back, but plan to do the following in order as far as the money will take me:

Line-x spray in liner
Soft bed cover (like an access lorado or similar)
Paint exterior of the house
Small porch addition off the front door.

Anything left if any will probably go to savings...

I also pay extra to make sure I get more back, I owed one year and that SUCKED. Never will happen again lol.

LOL, I like the order you put stuff in! Truck stuff first! haha.

We're def. doing the windows. The first house I owned was a HUD home and it too had single pane windows. Our electric bill went from average of $400/month to $250/month at peak. Give or take on both estimates. So we're def. changing these crappy windows.

Goes in my account where all my other ones are, along with all of my military pay and bonuses for the last 7 years.

This return should put me right around 500k. I have only gotten in it once, for my Ram.

Haha well it's not really that it's in that order, just that I'm expecting to get enough back to do it all lol. Realistically the paint will only be a few hundred as we will do it ourselves. Also the addition will only be the cost to have an architect stamp my drawings and get a permit, most of the materials will be free or cheap and I'll do the work myself. I'm in the construction industry so that helps. The house stuff is priority, but if I have enough dough I'll be knocking the truck stuff off the list first

It may not be as hot here as where you are, but FL gets pretty darn hot, and the highest our electric bill gets is about $150 for the 2 to 3 hottest months. MAYBE like $175ish for a few of the hottest days. Usually it's under $100 though, like this past month was under $80 IIRC. We use the heat too but have a heat pump so it's very efficient unless it gets below 32 deg F (rare here). We usually keep the air on 80 while we are gone to work, and kick it to 78 when we get home, and 77 when we go to sleep. The new efficient AC helps so much; we bought this house a year ago, and previously rented a house in the same area with the exact floor plan and it had the original AC and our electric bill averaged well over $200, sometimes over like $300, and that was with it set at 84 all day. Also it didn't have any heat capabilities. When we bought our house a year ago we were upset with the non working AC and the fact that we had to replace it, but it was definitely a plus that we had to replace it and actually was priced pretty reasonable all things considered. Also like I said, the new appliances and all that help a lot...and it's also only 2 people in our house.

Not to get off topic, but for those who may not know, anything that plugs into the wall outlet that has one of those "boxes" (like cell phone chargers, laptop chargers, etc...) has an AC to DC converter inside that box and uses electricity whether or not the device is plugged into it. So if you unplug phone chargers, laptop chargers, etc. when not in use you will be amazed at how much lower your electric bill will be.

Probably put it in my savings after paying a few bills. Thought about getting ARH with it but I'm going to hold off.
