Default Oil change interval??????

Book says 8k
I feel 5-6k is better but book still says 8k.

Why did my message center say oil change due @ 3500 miles?

Also dealer said book is wrong. It should be 3k.

Who does 3k anymore? I bought this truck in parts because of the long oil change intervals.

I told the dealer when Dodge sent me a letter saying less than 8k I would do it and not before.

Anyone else on this issue?

The message center did the same on my truck, but it went off at around 3100 miles, and I'm already running Mobil 1 synthetic. I'm going 5-6K between changes on my truck. 3K is only recommended by service departments wanting to pad their bottom line by unnecessary visits.

That being said, I did have the first change done at 1K miles. I do this to get any metal shavings or other contaminants out of the oil that may have occurred during manufacturing. Plus, who knows how long my truck sat on the lot before I bought it?

best to go by the message center, it goes by YOUR driving habbits.

On my TBSS it makes me change it WAY sooner the the summer months. Why because all the idling over the winter.

Also wiping it on a white paper can tell U how black/junk is in it.

With all that, change it when U feel it needs changed as it YOUR truck !! LOL

Too early, waste of money. Too long, well U know what happens !! LOL

One last thing, the ONLY TRUE way is to send it to a lab. Lab will tell U how much TRUE life if any (too late) oil REALLY has...................

Just my opinion... I highly doubt the EVIC does any monitoring of driving habits. My daily drive is 90% highway cruising at 65-70mph. That type of driving should maximize oil life, not shorten it.

How about going by what the OWNER manual says ??

Change Engine Oil
Road conditions as well as your kind of driving affect the
interval at which your oil should be changed. Check the
following to determine if any apply to you:
Day or night temperatures are below 32F (0C).
Stop and go driving.
Extensive engine idling.
Driving in dusty conditions
Short trips of less than 10 miles (16.2 km)
More than 50% of your driving is at sustained high
speeds during hot weather, above 90F (32C)
Trailer towing
Heavy Loading
Taxi, Police or delivery service (commercial service)
Off-road or desert operation
If equipped for and operating with E-85 (ethanol)
fuel.
NOTE: If ANY of these apply to you then change your
engine oil every 3,000 miles (5 000 km) or 3 months,
whichever comes first and follow schedule B of the
Maintenance Schedules section of this manual.
If none of these apply to you, then change your engine oil
at every interval shown on schedule A of the Maintenance
Schedules section of this manual.
NOTE: Under no circumstances should oil change intervals
exceed 6,000 miles (10 000 km) or 6 months
whichever comes first.

You are talking about the same EVIC that cannot even display correct mpg that is always 1 to 2 mpg higher than actual !

I'm sticking with my 5-6K intervals, has worked fine for me for the past 15 years of using Mobil 1 in all my vehicles.

Both I and a friend has Ram trucks. Mine 2011 , his 2012 bought 2 days apart. Both his and mine came on at exactly 3500! No chance we drive the same!

What book is this because mine clearly says 8000 mile oil changes on a 2011 with the hemi! And says nothing about synthetic. Also the same in my buddies 2012.
