Did you know that the 2009 1500 Owners manual states that you should change your oil every 6,000 miles. The 2011-2012's state every 8,000 miles. Funny part is that there are nearly no engine differences between those particular years. I figure I would half that and change my oil every 4,000. This way I stick to 8,000 intervals for tire rotation and the bigger service intervals. I use regular oil.

My EVIC also turns on every 3500 miles. Almost like clock work. I drive 60% city 40% high way.

mine came on a 6300 kms, i drive a little heavy but not crazy , i have a short 13 km drive to work, city/ highway ...dealer told me to go by the trucks messages. im also running royal purple now so im not worried to let it go to 7k. i also have the maintenance plan done during my oil changes ( tire rotation, check everything and lube whats necessary, keeps the warranty book looking good)

if you change your own oil then go buy what the bottle says, not the truck. if you are running conventional oil, then its 3000 miles for you. But with all these advancements in oil, synthetics do not have a set mileage on them so read the bottle!

3000 miles is WAY to early, so waste your money.

Send it to a LAB is the ONLY way to know if it early/late on YOUR driving habits.
