Smile Tuner troubles survey??????

Hey everyone due to old cliffs woes it's made me wonder what's going on in the tuner neighborhood. So heres the deal-

1- what tuner do you use?
2- what's your reason for using the tuner? (mileage or performance, bolt on part modification compatibility & so forth)
3- what's your experiences w/ them good or bad?

Thanks in advance for participating in my curiosity quest.

2012 Ram 1500 4.7

1: Bully Dog GT for Hemi Plus
2: I use it for pretty much everything it has to offer. Better performance (power and torque), better fuel economy, recalibrating my speedometer, turning off traction control, monitoring capabilites (currently I have coolant temp, trans temp, intake temp, and throttle percent displayed), driving coach, real time fuel economy. Like I said, literally everything it has to offer.
3: Literally the only two issues I've had with it are small ones that were easily fixed with software updates. When I first put my 35's on and put that size into the tuner it didn't recalibrate my speedo. That was easily fixed by calling BD tech support and getting them to send me the update. Then with that update the trans temp didn't display for some reason. Again, waited a while and got the new update from BD and now everything is working 100%. So far I have only run the regular tune but even with that I can definitely feel the difference in power and torque. The biggest difference is the shift points and firmness of the transmission too. It's no longer searching for gears constantly. It holds them longer when needed and likewise downshifts sooner when needed.

I ended up driving my truck to work without the tuner installed one day (after running it for a couple months) and it was practically unbearable. I hated it..... I ended up updating my tuner at work and reinstalling it before driving home. Night and day difference.

Honestly, if Diablosport supported the 4.7 or if I had a hemi I would have the Trinity with a custom tune. I really enjoy dealing with the tuning side of things and working out the bugs with it so I would have no issues working with a custom tuner to get everything running as good as it can. But for someone that is just looking for a plug and play option using canned tunes I would highly recommend the Bully Dog GT for Hemi Plus.

12 Hemi, Diablo Trinity with HemiFever custom 93 Tune. I use it strictly for the performance gain. The drag-race option is pretty cool too,as is being able to hit the traction control button and leave 100 foot burn- outs. No problems so far...

Thumbs down

1- Bully Dog GT for Hemi Plus
2- What I bought it for was for mileage & performance improvements, plus enabling fog on high beam
3- I had a negative experience and returned it for refund. Here's a copy & paste of what I had wrote in a previous thread, where someone is complaining about the BullyDog tuner experience. And for good reason..

This is just one of the many reasons I just decided to return my BullyDog Hemi Plus for refund. I didn't realize just how bad it was knocking until I was driving through an alley with the windows down. I bet there are a lot of people who drive around with the windows up and the radio on that aren't aware of what can sometimes be even a faint knock at times under certain load. It knocks/pings with 93 octane and the Performance tune. It knocks even worse with the Regular tune and 89 octane, sometimes with a mix of 89/93. I tried three different tune files and to no avail. I believe the firmware versions were A011, A00B, & B011

Also, on my truck the disable traction control and MDS disable never worked. Correction: On firmware B011, it would disable the ESC and ABS light as well. Not to mention the Brake light would stay on or sometimes flash. Like the way it does when put the truck in reverse with the parking brake on. It would also freeze when going through the various menus and require you to unplug and plug back in (or cycle the key). It is and was ridiculous, considering I paid $419.

I will say that both Lyle and Andrew were very friendly and helpful during my many attempts at contacting tech support. BullyDog customer service was excellent, but the product is junk.

Here's the kicker. After hearing how bad it was knocking, I immediately uninstalled it and the truck runs better on the stock tune, with no knocking, of course. The only "performance" difference I felt on both BullyDog tunes was improvement in shift feel and shift timing. However, it didn't feel any different than stock in other regards. And the BD tuner was hurting the truck.

1. Hypertech Interceptor
2. Ease of use, no flashing, not racing my truck
3. So far positive. Does increase throttle response and power noticeably, gas mileage increase very minimal - maybe up to 10% but not as high as advertised.

1- Bullydog gt hemiplus
2- got to try it for free and wanted to get rid of lag, better mpg, and performance
3- Love it!!! after a couple hiccups at first i got the install figured out. Fog beams with high beams is great never had any issues with that. lag is gone mpg increased, display is kind of neat, and overall been very pleased with it. The engine light came on once then used the bd to delete the error code and it never came back again. Been an awesome tuner and for the money i would recommend it. I have a 2012 2500 Hemi . hope this helps. i did a write up on it when i first got it dont know where it is or how to post it but hope this helped ya a bit.
also forgot to add it got rid of my tpms light since i have bigger tires and wheels!!!

We should turn this into a poll for all three tuners. I have heard great stuff about all three, and then there is some of the Drag Racing crowd claiming they got nothing from the products, a few guys who's trucks ran god awful with custom tunes, one tranny failure with dealership data to prove it.
The lag is not all that terrible to me, my last ride was a 2011Scion TC 6spd manual. The throtte lag was so terrible that everyone who drove it, stalled the car out in first gear because the dbw was so terrible. i could nail the throttle in neutral, let off the gas pedal.. THEN the tach needle would rise up. Easily a full second or more of throttle lag.

Diablo Intune DCX

I bought one of the first units to hit the market. Had install issues right out of the box & sent numerous times on the phone with Diablo before I could it. I used the stock tunes until I added a K&N series 63 CAI, The truck really bogged down @ WOT. Contacted HemiFever & had a custom tune made. Truck runs worlds better now!

1. Hypertech Interceptor
2. Ease of use, not traceable, not racing my truck
3. First unit was defective, swapped it out for another and the experience has been positive since. Improved throttle response, 1-2 mpg improvement, and a bit more power. Lots more fun to drive.
