I ended up putting the large sticker on my wife's car. I liked the look, but it was just too flashy, so when I was at the shop the other day I saw a small, 2" ABN decal, and picked it up. It's discreet, but just enough.

The time we live in is questionable, but it depends on where you live. I have a Army Veteran liscense plate on my truck. The only time I hear anything about it is a thank you, only when its noticed. Law Enforcement in my area also tends to be a little more lenient to those with them, as long as you aren't driving like a complete idiot. I guess they respect it and also most of them have been in the military.

Thanks for all the responses guys. I've had the badge on for a few weeks now, planning on taking it off actually before my next PCS.

My belief on this is that if you have spent time in the section you are displaying and can properly describe and answer questions on your section then go ahead and display it. But if you are straight out of school (sometimes in school still) then you should leave the decal off the truck and get some experience and earn the right to display yourself as such.

I spent 6 years in MI and not once have I displayed it on my vehicle. A guy I was in school with decided that on his second day on base he was gunna go to the PX and pick up a sticker for his bike. He put it on his bike and regretted not even an hour later. The Drill Sergeant came by and asked him what the hell he was thinking of calling himself MI when he hadn't even been to his first class yet. Hell I didn't even put my unit sticker on any of my vehicles even after spending so much time with them. That's my 2 cents though.

Are you qualified those things? Is there an Army instruction forbidding such things? You answered yes and no to those questions, do whatever you want.

Submariners Enlisted and Commissioned both put Submarine Dolphins on all sorts of things, including their vehicles. Pride runs deep.

Regardless of Officer or Enlisted, in my opinion it is dumb. As was said before no need to advertise. Having been stationed overseas in both combat and non-combat locations, I would rather not make my family a target for any knuckleheads who would like to try something stupid

If you have DOD decals on your vehicle, you're already advertising.
