Default recommendation for floor jack

Hi Folks,
I am referring to your always on-target expertise for a recommendation for a lightweight, reasonably priced floorjack that I can use for my 1500 and for other applications such as my 16 ft. travel trailer. It must be easy to use, lug around and store.

Thanks.

I bought the cheapo set from autozone that comes with two jackstands for like $30 or whatever. It's really light duty, you may want to go bigger for a big truck, I bought it when I had lighter vehicles. I now bought a heavier duty one I think from sears, but still use both. Harbor freight and northern tool also have cheap ones but decent quality.

IMHO 2 ton is the lightest jack I would trust my life and/or truck on.

And yes, ALWAYS use proper jack stands!!!

You want easy to move and store. That will be hard to happen with a jack that will work safely with your 4X4. Reach and lift height are prime factors in looking for a jack. You need to reach the frame to start lifting.

Good thread as I'm in the same boat - I recently changed a tire (after dealing with the awful scissors jack that comes with the truck and awful winch mechanism that lowers the spare- that was fun, but at least the flat happened in my parking lot and not on the side of the road. Jack looks like something my son put together with an erector set).

Anyway, I used a jack rated for 2 tons, but it's a cheap jack, and once I had it up to a certain height (not near the end of its travel), it started to malfunction).

So I too am looking for one that's more heavy duty....
