when i compared window sticker mpg, there wasn't enough of a diff for me not to get a hemi. i have a rcsb sport 4x4 and get maybe 1 mpg better thn my wifes 04 4.7 in her grand cherokee, around 2 mpg better on the hwy. i am sure guys with newer 4.7 will chime in and give you a better comparison. i also have 3.55 gearing.

4.7 with 3:55, then went to 3:92 earlier this week. I am not at home to drive the truck but the wife reports little/no change in fuel economy, only in driveability. Consistently 15+ in town and 20-22hwy. 4.7 4x4 quad cab.

4x4 quad cab 5.7 HEMI 3:55 gears, 25 months ownership with average MPG sitting at 16.3 liters/100km. Very pleased. Had the 4.7 with 3:92 gears in an 08 Dakota, it's MPG was worse, ^19 liters/100km.

don't forget to compare gearing and 4x4 vs 2wd. also. what do you plan to use your truck for. might save some dollars by trying the the new pentastar 6 cyl when the 13s come out.
